    Fairmont Mayakoba is #1 and the staff are the reason why

    My wife and I along with another couple just returned from 10 days at the Fairmont Mayakoba and absolutely love the architecture of the resort, the natural beauty of the jungle and the prestine beach but the real gem of the resort are the people. Once we arrived we were greeted by an excellent bell service of Guillermo, David B, and Amadise- these guys are fantastic. Our check-in was outstanding and done by Fernanda- whom I love, she went out of her way to make sure our stay was outstanding. From there head over to the lobby bar and make sure Arturo and Jesus make you one of their great craft cocktails. Once you get to the beach you will see a small army of beach men that are so amazing. Their managers Shelia, Monte & Tristin runs a great crew: Edy, Oscar, Diego, Oasis, Filiberto, Levi, Hugo, Hector, Alejandro (server and bartender) Nicolas, and numerous others. We can not say enough about the people who work at Fairmont Mayakoba, they truly make it one of the best hotels in the world.

    FANTASTIC experience!!

    After a rough few months of quarantine, we booked a trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba for our family. We wanted sun, sand, a pool, and good food and beverages. We were thrilled with our experiences! On arrival to the resort, we were guided to an outdoor sink to wash our hands, we were temperature checked, and were able to cleanse our shoes prior to entering the lobby. Our luggage was taken from our transfer to be sprayed down and disinfected, then delivered to our room promptly. We were greeted at check in by our butler Jorge Rios. He was amazing, and we were able to be in contact with him via text the entire visit! I would highly recommend booking one of the rooms that include this service, as it made our visit seamless. Our room was very spacious. We opted for a Beach-area Casita. We had 2 queen beds for the 3 of us and had plenty of room. The bathroom is enormous, with both a shower and a tub, a separate toilet, and 2 sinks. Traveling with a teenager is tough to begin with, add the fact that it's a girl and it becomes even more of an issue, The beds were extremely comfortable and we were able to request more pillows. We had the all-inclusive package (just do it...you WILL spend more than the extra $300 per day in food and beverage) so our minibar was also included. We had sodas, water, and beer with some snacks, but Jorge was helpful in replacing the beer we wouldn't drink anyway for more water. When I booked the trip at the end of May, the resort had not yet reopened, but when they did about a week or two into June they started with one restaurant. By the time we arrived a second was opened, in addition to beach service during the day . We really enjoyed the food, but would love to go back and enjoy a bit more variety (first world problems, right?). I want to single out Humberto at Brisas for making our day and taking the time to chat with our daughter (in Spanish) to challenge her language skills! Also...each and every time we entered one of the restaurants we had to step on the shoe cleaner and had our temperatures taken. There was also hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE! We spent most of our day at the beach or at the pool that our friends had with their room. Beach service would keep a tab on our room....I have to give a shout out to Diego for my bourbon creation (dubbed the "a-yai-yai" and to both Marco Antonio and Gregoio Benitez...they worked the food service and bar on the beach and had the ability to remember us and our preferences day to day.... One of the things our family was into is fitness. We were at the gym daily. A reservation was required, and they allowed only 8 people in at a time. There was ample cleaner for US to clean our own machines, but also there was a staff member IN the gym cleaning after us.,....have you EVER seen someone cleaning a hotel gym? This was a first for me. We did take the opportunity to visit the spa. Masks were required there...not necessarily in other parts of the resort. The experience was very positive and the staff washed their hands multiple times before they started our massages. This was consistent among more than one (!!!) visit. Other highlights included the wine tasting we were able to have arranged (thank you Jorge!) as well as the eco-tour via the boats on property. There is a waterway that links the Fairmont with 3 other resorts and we were able to see these areas and a bunch of wildlife we otherwise would not have seen. I could keep waxing on about our trip, but suffice it to say that we had a wonderful time! We WILL go back...the environment was secluded, quiet, and utterly relaxing!

    Great break in the middle of COVID

    Overall we had a great experience and a very much needed break during COVID. The staff were amazing, including Daniel who checked up on us every day and responding immediately whenever we needed help. I wish we knew that only 2 restaurants were open on the resort and that the rest of Myakoba was closed off to people staying at Fairmont. Granted this made sense given COVID but it would've been nice to know, which I didn't find after scanning their websites and social media pre-arrival. This limited the food options, but we were more than happy to drive out to Puerto Morelos for more options. We paid a much lower rate than the normal price for a Beach area casita, given COVID, so the state of the room wasn't something I felt like I should complain about. However, even at $300 USD a night, the room had a very moldy smell, the patio doors were really dirty on the outside and there were chunks of wall missing at one of the bedside outlets. We've stayed at various five star resorts located in similar jungle/beach areas and never encountered something like this, especially the moldy smell. Regardless, we were very happy to just get away and we didn't want to waste time complaining. This would've really bothered me if we paid anywhere close to the normal rate for this room. Overall, the staff made us feel very comfortable with the precautions they took with mask wearing and felt like the property pulled out all the stops to make it feel relatively safe despite the raging pandemic. Great stay, just hope the property fixes a few things in the rooms to feel like an actual 5 star hotel room.

    Amazing paradise

    Our stage in Fairmont Mayakoba was amazing. Just the type of paradise that we were looking for with all the craziness of the COVID situation. Very relaxing, safe and nice place!! The best thing is how good are the workers, every time with an smile in their face and trying to make you feel like home!! Special mention to Marco Gregorio...after two weeks in the hotel, he became family for us! Such a hard worker!! 100% recommended Sr Mira

    The Fairmont Mayakoba is an excellent vacation destination. We have gone to the hotel many times and always have had a great time. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and are very courteous. A few people to mention, but we wish we knew everyone's name, are Daniel, Edy, Oscar and Salvador among many others.
