I decided to come to Costa Rica on a solo adventure for my first time. I stayed here five nights after my travel agent had sent me several properties, this one looked great and was all inclusive. I’d say if you get lonely and are going to travel alone this resort isn’t for you. I do a lot on my own but did feel like it was couples club (as it’s a romantic resort) and everyone was always quite shocked at my party of one which became a running joke. Let’s start with the cons as they are short: -On the second night and for the remainder of my stay the power kept turning off for a minute in my room which I thought was maybe just me until talking to other people. If that’s part of a deal with the power company I’d suggest doing it mid day when people are out and not in the middle of the night where the air condition beeps super loud and wakes us up. (Our tour guide mentioned the power company who knows what the real deal is) -If you are not into walking or aren’t in the best physical shape, I’d choose somewhere else. The property is built on a hill and spread out 10-15 mins across at a brisk pace. There is a shuttle that can come and pick you up but if it’s raining or a busy time of day you might be waiting a while. Even in great shape my room was up on a hill and at the opposite end of the resort from all but one restaurant so I walked a ton. Pros: -Upon checking in she realized my birthday was the day after I was leaving and sent me a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate -A customizes note was left on the table when you walk in which is such a nice touch. Room was also stocked with big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, wash, lotion etc. -Drinks and water stocked daily but didn’t get chips/candy til the very last day -Food was delicious, I tried all but one restaurant and they were all good. (Several photos included) If you don’t like to try new things there is a bunch of normal stuff to eat but branch out, it’s part of what makes traveling fun. -Tried the room service several times and the food was quick and decent but the best thing to do is venture out. -The staff is super nice everywhere you go and really make you feel like they care you chose to visit their country. Much better service then I get at home. -Room was big, clean and cozy. I loved that they were little bungalows with just one neighbor that I never really heard. Unlike being in one big building with hundreds of rooms. -Relaxation pool was great and so was the beach area, I didn’t bother going to the crowded pool as it was on the other side of the resort from my room. -The gym was nice and just enough stuff. -There were minimal vendors on the beach and they weren’t pushy like other countries I’ve been to. -There ware several activities included on a diaily schedule or you can paddle board, kayak etc. Pura Vida!

For a RCI property it was very disappointing .Very much needed make over . electricity would go out every night .WFY would come and go. same with cable. Ran out of hot water. the very good thing it had a beautiful view looking over the Pacific Ocean. most of the time the people where very helpful at least would try .The front deck would not answer the phone. it would ring and ring before anyone would answer . Sorry for Negative thoughts

My wife an I have stayed at Secrets properties in both Cancun and Jamaica and this resort, by far, is the worst of the bunch. While the staff is top notch, the food is nowhere near the level of quality at the other places mentioned. Don’t expect swimming at the beach as the beach is small and the sand is more volcanic black sand. Night life is mostly non existent and the shows offered look like a high school production. Either plan many excursions or plan your entire trip around the overcrowded pool.

    You won’t be sorry!

We just got back from out 10 year anniversary trip. This resort is wonderful. The food is great, top shelf liquor, 24 hour room service. The staff were great- J.J., Julio, Raul, and Mike! I loved the private bungalows. The resort is big and hilly, so you get your exercise in; however, if you prefer not to walk, just hop on a shuttle. The beach is great. It’s huge and not crowded. All beaches in Costa Rica are public, but the resort is secluded enough that it feels private. I have no idea why more people don’t swim in the ocean. It’s warm, calm, clear, and snorkeling is good. The sand is black (which I think is cool, but I’ve seen negative reviews about it), but it’s soft like white sand beaches. However, there is a lot of coral washed up that hurts your feet, so bring water socks or shoes. Unlike other reviews, I did not think the vendors were too bad-I’ve experienced worse! There were a few, but they did not hound us. The atmosphere is good; not a ton of sloppy drunks. The bar at night was fun-music was good and we danced a lot. I honestly don’t have any negative comments. The experience was similar to my experience at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta (now the Hyatt), except the adults only aspect was a huge bonus! Don’t think too much about it, just book! P.S. this has nothing to do with the resort, but in case anyone is wondering, the weather in mid-October is fine. It rained a bit every day, but not long most days and it was sunny almost every morning until 12:00 or 1:00pm. If I book again, I will probably book closer to the end of the month, but definitely in the off season because the cost savings is significant and the resort is quieter. One more thing-don’t forget bug spray!

Not exactly what we were use to, with Unlimited Vacation Club. Excellent food and bar service however. Pools were nice and well kept, the beach area was very different. No white sand, mostly black sand and a lot of local vendors trying to sale their local products, and fishing trips and boat rides. We were there for rest and relaxing, which we were able to do.
