Waste of Money

Horrible Experience! This was our 3rd year visiting DR, previous stays were at Margaritaville which was amazing. This year for my birthday and my daughter’s spring break we decided to try Nickelodeon instead! Worse decision ever! Upon arrival, we were assigned to the incorrect room type, which they insisted it was my selection, and I would have to pay another $500 to upgrade, after paying almost $3,400 for 5 nights. We were finally placed in a plunge suite which was not fit to stay in. The pool was missing tiles from the bottom step, which caused my daughter to injure herself. The bathroom had black mold around the corners of the floor. The A/C never cooled the room! Maintenance was called, he showed up, stated he was going outside to take a look at the unit and he never returned. Two days into our stay we were moved to another room, which was oceanfront with a swim-out pool. Upon arrival, I had to call to have maintenance come fix a broken door handle that would not lock! A/C still wasn't working properly, room overall just ran down. The food was by far the worse I've ever had, drinks were watered down and every other day one of the pools were taped off. The staff overall didn’t make us feel welcomed, most of them seemed as if they hated their jobs. There were no kids activity after kid camp closed unlike Magarotiville. No adult activities either. Upon leaving, I was promised a refund, of the amount I paid for the upgrade. As of today (30 days) later I have not received any thing! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

We had the most amazing time on our spring break vacation. The amenities were top notch, and the employees were the kindest people we have ever met. A big shout out to Dariel who was our concierge who went above and beyond for us the entire week.

We had the best trip at this resort! The property was beautiful! We absolutely loved the beach and pool area! Excited to see the place when the construction is complete. The service was especially amazing. We had the most lovely and attentive butler, Rainieri! He was above and beyond amazing! Our only complaint was food at the waterpark was mediocre and really needs more improvement. Everything else was perfect! Can’t wait to return!

Not worth the money. Look elsewhere

This was my first time at a Karisma resort. We went for spring break due to the interest of checking out a nickelodeon themed hotel. I had read the reviews here prior to coming so I had an idea of what to expect. After reading the reviews and now experiencing it the reviews that give this place a 2 to 3 star are indeed pretty accurate. I will give my breakdown below. But a quick summary of this place is that the rooms were nice however service is very slow and lots of inaccuracy of what is available. The people that work there are friendly but very understaffed. The food at best is mediocre especially for the price. It reminds me of the carnival cruise ships of the early 2000s. The bars serve only bottom shelf liquor unless you pay additional to buy a whole bottle. Overall: if the price point had been $400 a night vs $1400 it would have been a different review. If you are going to spend 1400+ a night go to a luxury brand such as the Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, St Regis, Fairmont , Rosewood, Conrad etc and get treated like royalty and make the money worth it. Pros -People are friendly. We encountered people that were very friendly. They did their best to accommodate with the resources available but service was so slow because they did not have enough people. Despite that they were always happy. -The rooms were nice . I enjoyed the room. We had a swim up suite which was nice for the kids to get an evening swim. -The beach was a nice area. I enjoyed swimming etc. -club nick was nice for the kids -the sliming experience was a unique and fun thing. Don't skip this. -aqua nick was nice but just as the majority of reviews it's for young kids. 6 to 7 years old max. Cons -the service was so slow in all areas from check-in to restaurants, bars , poolside service, aqua nick etc -not accurate information available even on the karisma app. It had most of the info however there were things where i saw but not listed on the app. For example, an activity that I stumbled upon but was not mentioned beforehand like a beach BBQ with a premium bar. It required an upcharge and looked very nice and I would have paid however I ate dinner at a regular restaurant prior and happened to take a walk to the beach and saw the setup. It was empty and not many people knew which was ashame bc it looked like a good event. -the food. Wow the food was incredibly bad everywhere we went. The only thing I really enjoyed the fresh bbq food on the beach and at aqua nick where they set up a tent and grill. The food is not good at all. I was surprised that there wasn't more complaints on trip advisor for this. -the bar. The bartenders were good but the property serves well drinks only on the resort. For the price at least the average brands would have sufficed. They have to do way better here. I would expect the Tito's, patron, Johnny black, etc for the bare minimum at the bars. -promotions. Be weary on any resort credit especially when booking. They do not actually apply the credits that you were supposed to get. Just go with the expectation that you will not get the credit. -character breakfast. It was a fun event but I would expect at least different food than the typical breakfast food. -Concierge and front staff didn't really do much. Not sure of their purpose. They mostly stood around all the time when I was there and could never answer any of my questions or help with setting anything up. They would refer us to contact the personal butler service.
