Excellent experience at El Cid !

Very highly recommended. I have been privileged to see 34 countries in the world and was even in another resort in Cancun Mexico in 2023. Our experience in El Cid was just exceptional. Very higly recommended to potential visitors/tourists.

Great facilities with drawbacks, like the seaweed on the small beach. The restaurants were great but they need to increase the realistic times for dinner reservations

Pools Galore

Beware when checking in please, the agents are trained to try to upgrade you. Before they give you your assigned room, they turn the computer to show you a basic room, then proceed to show you images of larger room, and it's ready, but that will be 300$US more for the duration of your stay, if you use the 100$ coupon from, resort coupon book aka resort credit (not like on a cruise ship to use as you want, there are conditions). So, we signed up. Upon giving my signature, the scratched up room originally assigned was the upgrade we just paid for??what? Spoke with Manuel the next day in the lobby at check-in, (agents were doing the same pitch to new check-ins) whereby he agreed upon checking out we would be credited the $300. Still haven't seen the adjustment on our credit card. As well, our room was only attended to every other day. Alerted that the toilet does not always fully flush, no one showed up for that. Like another review, our keys did not operate, went to front desk, reassigned keys, still did not work. The entire door mechanism had to be changed. However, upon returning to our room, the door was wide open with the 2 techs, anyone could have walked in. We did stay in the older part of the hotel as well, the grounds are so lush and beautifully maintained. No swimmable beach here. Having access to the sister resorts is great! The pools and restaurants are fabulous, especially KOBO, Ataak, (reservations required - if you can get them, so many late seatings unless you are Platinum). The spanish Chardonnay and red wines are decent. Like most All-Inclusive, the alcohol is watered down. Bring bug repellent and after-bite, the mosquitoes and sand flies are there!

My review is based on last year and not this one. I think this year the less than amazing stay was a fluke so I’m giving the benefit of the doubt.
