    Another Amazing Visit to Grand Velas Riviera Maya

    My hubby, my 13 yo son, his bestie & I just returned from GVRM. 2nd time & this trip didn't disappoint. There are some changes with COVID, but the precautions the staff take are incredible. Anti-bac soap everywhere & temp checks. The staff all wear both masks and face shields. The guests are not required to wear masks. The only section open is Grand Class - usually the adults only section - with the only pool bar. The pool, gym, kids and teens club at Ambassador are all open. The main dining area is Bistro and at night some of the rest. concepts rotate through. Cocina de Autor is open as well. The food at the pool/beach is perfect for just hanging out . Also, room service is available 24 hrs/day & is delish! The resort is immaculate & beautiful; the food is amazing, but the BEST part of GVRM is the service. Our concierge Carolina basically became a part of our family for the week. She was incredible and with a huge smile on her face the whole time. She made our stay perfect and even added in some “surprise and delights”. Many others that made our stay so special - Willian in Bistro - always making us smile; Ernesto in Bistro telling us about the specials; Jaime the chef; Jaime the server; and the pool: Oscar, Luis, Nora, Humberto (we met 2 years ago)- always right there with whatever drink, food or smoothie was needed. 3 more: the pool activities staff ; the wonderful drivers with Blue Dreams transportation ; Alex with the sea-bob. Can’t wait to go back next year! TY - GVRM!!

    My husband, my 13 yr old son, his best friend and I just returned from Grand Velas Riviera Maya. We had been before and this trip did not disappoint. There are certainly some changes with COVID, but the precautions the staff take are pretty incredible. Anti-bac soap throughout the resort, temperature checks for all dining and for checking in. We all felt very safe. The staff all wear both masks and face shields. The guests are not required to wear masks. Due to COVID only 1 section of the resort is open - Grand Class which is usually the adults only section. The only open pool bar is here as well. The pool, gym, kids club and teens club on the ambassador side are all open, but there are renovations going on in the rooms, lobby, restaurants, etc. The main dining area at this time is Bistro and at night some of the restaurant concepts rotate through there. Cocina de Autor is open upstairs as well. The food at the pool and beach is perfect for just hanging out - the fam fave were the steak tacos and French fries! Also - room service is available 24 hrs a day and is super delish! The resort is immaculate and beautiful; the food is amazing, but the BEST part of Grand Velas RM is the service from the staff. Where to even begin??? I’ll start with our concierge Carolina. She basically became a part of our family for the week. She was absolutely incredible and with what I can only image to be a huge smile on her face the whole time (hard to see with the mask!!!). She made our stay perfect and even added in some “surprise and delights” for us. We’d also like to mention several others that made our stay so special - Willian (with an “n”) in Bistro - always making us smile; Ernesto in Bistro telling us about the specials that we needed to try; Jaime the chef at Bistro; Jaime the server at Bistro; and we certainly can’t forget the folks who made our “pooling” experience so great - Oscar, Luis, Nora, Humberto (whom we met on our trip 2 years ago)- always right there with whatever drink, food or smoothie was needed by the family. Finally - 3 more shout outs 1) to the activities staff for setting up the inflatabull, the hamster ball and the pool volleyball for us 2)the wonderful drivers with Blue Dreams transportation who took just our family to and from the airport and the resort 3) Alex who took our teen boys out in the ocean on the sea-bob. So...if you are considering GVRM for your vacation, pull the trigger and do it. It is worth every penny and then some! We can’t wait to go back next year! Thank you GVRM!!

    Amazing food, accommodations, location but most of all AMAZING SERVICE all around. From the head concierge Amy that contacted us before arrival to set everything up, our personal concierge Carolina that went above and beyond to make every wish come true and the amazing staff at pools, bars and restaurants it really makes for an unforgettable experience!

    My husband and I just returned from an incredible stay at the Grand Velas Rivera Maya. Everything about our vacation was perfect but what stood out the most is the amazing service we received from all the staff. Diana, our wonderful concierge, Nora, both Luis’, Oscar, Israel, Tayde, all the wait staff at the restaurants were all attentive, polite and were helpful with anything we needed. They are all an asset to the resort. All the food we had at the restaurants, room service and pool was delicious, inventive and an experience. The resort itself is pristine and beautiful. The driver Carlos that took us back and forth from the airport was polite and informative. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and are excited to return soon. Thank you to all at Grand Velas.

    Hurricane Delta was no match for this amazing team!!

    If they made us feel this comfortable with a category 4 hurricane bearing down on the resort, imagine what a normal week would feel like. Amy, Denys, Carolina, Tony and the rest of their team absolutely blew us away (pun fully intended). Quick background...my wife and I decided to make our second visit to Tulum for her birthday celebration. After enduring a direct hit from tropical depression Gamma, we settled in for a relaxing end of our trip. Mother Nature had other designs. We were notified in the early evening that tropical storm Delta was rapidly strengthening into a hurricane and that Tulum would likely be evacuated. Rather than wait around to find out what that would look like, we scrambled to find a hotel closer to the Cancun airport with a roof made of something other than palm leaves. After a series of frantic nighttime calls (and rejections) we reached Grand Velas and were assured that a beautiful room awaited. We were not disappointed. Full disclosure: we are not the all-inclusive types. We like a little more adventure than they typically provide. But after a few days at Grand Velas, we fully understand the allure. We arrived late at night and harried but the staff kept the main restaurant open for us anyway. One of the staff heard my wife mention that she was chilly in the first real AC we'd experienced in days and immediately brought her a robe! We got to our room and found a spacious, spotless, technologically up-to-date suite with an amazing view of the sea. We slept well that night. The next morning we awoke to a beautiful day. You'd never know what was brewing 400 miles to the southeast. As the storm approached, the team helped us move inland to their on-property convention center where they'd set up comfy beds, a movie theater and game room for the kids (and me). Aside from opening a pre-dinner DJ set with Celine Dion's Titanic theme song (yikes!), they handled everything with aplomb. This operation was smoother than some work conferences I've been to -- all with 100+ mph winds whipping outside. 30 hours later we were back in our suites having made new friends -- both among the guests and the staff. A day later and you'd never know a major storm had just blown through. We enjoyed two fabulous days at the sea before heading home. Bottom line: My wife and I will be forever grateful that we stumbled into Grand Velas that night. Yes, it's a stunning setting for a vacation -- but also because there are some serious professionals working there who truly care.
