This is the most beautiful ..well kept resort .. the best people we love everything and everyone there.. Big shout out to the first club the ladies there can not be beat. Eva , andea kathy, The bartenders are the best than anywhere.. Javier , miguel, marcus , and Hugo... Shout out for Sergio and Moses who drive the carts . Shout out to Jamie the chef in Mexican restaurant for fixing our special fish, it was amazing.. and to the entertainment staff axel annd alex,you all rock.

We stayed 4 nights but were only aloud to eat at the nice restaurants 2 nights. In the past we have stayed at this resort and were aloud to eat at all the restaurants with no reservations. I did not like this change.

I’m an Occidental Member. Disappointed at the overall experience. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Had to take my own bags to the Members Only reception area. If you have been there, it’s a distance. No drink or greeting upon arrival. (Heard other members complain about this.) Waited. Got our room assigned. Upon checking out the room (14102) in the Members Building, was not impressed at all! What I was shown when I purchased last year was almost a bait & switch. This room was so run down. Everything about it. Broken or missing dispensers, damaged furniture, dirty, etc. I wasn’t impressed & extremely disappointed. Reported the issues & told the issues would be fixed ASSP. In 7 days, nothing was done. Oh wait, they did bring a bunch of shampoo & body wash. Really a disappointment. Going back in August. They really need to up their game!

I travel a lot and this was the only time in the last 5 years that I was not ready to leave after 7 days. The service was outstanding. The food, the pools, the bars, everything. My favorite part was all the wildlife right outside the door. Convenient to many activities or you could just sit by the pool or ocean and enjoy a drink or a nap. I highly recommend this place and will be back as soon as I can get away again

Just got back from a week stay at the Occidental. This was our second visit to Royal and we had a terrific time. Staff throughout the resort were so friendly and I can't think of a single instance that they didn't have a smile and do their very best to please. We loved the Beach Buffet, the Oriental Restaurant, Paco's Tacos but we honestly ate most of our dinners in Royal Club. That being said I think that although they have some great food in Royal for breakfast, lunch and even their pool bar menu we felt dinner was hit or miss depending on what you ordered. We didn't have a single potato that we liked, the sirloin steak was very tough, and the fish was overcooked but hey, we ate just fine. My husband also loved that he could wear shorts sitting outside at Royal Club and no need for a reservation. Loved the pools, especially the ocean pool. Bring some bread from the buffet to feed the fish. Our favorite pool was the Royal pool because it was quiet, we got to meet new friends and it was just convenient. Got the unlimited Xcaret pass which was great for us. Went over in the mornings at 8:30am most days when it was quiet and cooler and was home by lunch. This truly is an incredible resort and animals are really the star of the show. I look forward to returning!
