The Elon Troutmam Jazz and Golf Excursion is an awesome trip. Barbados is a awesome island. The Hilton is a dated property with a beautiful beach and very efficient and friendly staff. We stay at this property because of the jazz and golf. We would otherwise not stay at this property. The activities around the jaz and golf make it a great stay. Just know that it is not a 5 star property.

The trip to Barbados is a bit tiring, and may involve two days each way, depending on whether your departure city is a hub or not. However, the Hilton Barbados Resort is worth the journey. Set on a location right on the beach with water surrounding much of the hotel, the room views are wonderful, whether beach side or bay side. Offerings include a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets or ordering from the menu. A poolside bar on the beach offers great Happy Hour specials. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. Bathroom is large enough to offer a separate shower and tub comfortably. Meeting facilities accommodated our group quite well, and the food and beverage offerings for meetings was very good.

We stayed at the Hilton Barbados for a family holiday in August . First impressions on arrival were mixed – the lovely open plan reception with views out over the pool and beach was tempered a little by a slow check-in process. Once check-in was complete we were shown to our room up on what had once been the Executive floor – the room was nice with amazing views of the ocean, but was nothing spectacular but rather it was clean, functional and comfortable. We had a Bed and breakfast deal and when purchased this included access to the executive lounge which was then removed when the hotel did away with the lounge earlier in the year. In it’s place we had a number of extras during our stay which unfortunately weren’t explained at check in and I had to chase up a couple of days later. The location of the hotel is great in terms of the beach and outlook, but be aware that other than a couple of nearby restaurants, you will need to get a taxi pretty much everywhere or hire a car. Staff throughout our stay were very friendly, but a special mention to Alana at the pool bar who looked after us really well and is a credit to the hotel. Food in the hotel wasn’t bad but it is extortionately expensive for what it is – so much so that we didn’t even bother with the Grille restaurant. Some bar snacks and a drink each and you’re paying the equivalent of £80 for four. Get a drink at any time other than Happy Hour and you’ll be re-mortgaging shortly afterwards. I know Barbados is far from a cheap island but the Hilton are missing a trick here – the prices for average food resulted in us looking elsewhere for dinner every night we were there after the first night “wallet shock”. The pool was lovely, if a little standard, the beaches were stunning apart from the huge great influx of sargassum on one of them which prevented guests from using it for the first 9 days or so of our holiday. There did not appear to be any attempt by hotel staff to clean up the beach. But wonderfully warm, azure Caribbean water with great views out were a lovely experience and once the Sargassum started to abate, wave jumping on the main beach was great fun for us as a family. Entertainment at the pool bar was welcome, from some extremely good to some “hotel-typical”, but nice all the same. Whilst we were there, a president of another country was visiting and the armed presence at the front of the hotel was surprising, no issues other than some of the lifts being locked off for guests for the few days he was there. In summary, a lovely hotel, average food, friendly staff, checkin-in lacking, overpriced average food and drinks, wonderful beaches (once the seaweed had gone) and comfortable rooms with a great view.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Barbados Hilton. This was my second trip to Barbados and the hotel really made a difference in my experience. I was celebrating my birthday with friends and everyone we came in contact with was really friendly, helpful and appeared sincere when inquiring how we were enjoying our day. The check in went very smoothly and the staff was very accommodating, even sending a cake with a happy birthday written on the plate which was very thoughtful and appreciated. It was clear she listened when told we were there for a celebration. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the view of the ocean magnificent. The breakfast buffet was the ultimate. Too much food to even think about eating but a large variety to satisfy every craving. Happy hour at two different locations at different times is another plus. We are on vacation and celebrating. Yes, we want happy hour. The concierge person we dealt with was exceptional. She gave us great ideas to meet our needs and even had special referrals for discounts due to the fact we were celebrating a birthday. Overall, I had a great experience at the Hilton celebrating my birthday and would definitely look into celebratimg there again at another time.
