Sandals Montego Bay

This is just my humble opinion. I am a regular with Sandals. Currently staying on property for another four days, The landscape is superb, Butlers amazing, amenities top notch, rooms are above average. The food though is absolutely bad. I would rather eat at Chilis than here. We have been to Oleanders, Tokyo Joes, Cucina Romana, and Butches. I have to rate all these at a 2 star at best. I believe what it boils (pun) down to is, there is absolutely zero quality control. Butches is a new steak house boasting all these great choices. My wife and I opted for the prime rib. The prime rib was brought to us with that dark beautiful crust surrounding the meat. The prime rib was relatively luke warm and we were the first ones in for the night. The bark was completely inedible. This is no exaggeration, I literally could not cut through the meat with the knife I was given, When I was done it literally looked like Tartare on my plate. I had to leave so much behind that we went to another quick food place. The Italian Cucina is was extremely bland. You would think they would at least boil the pasta in salt water. If a true measure of a chef is based on the customer using salt and pepper then by this point in my trip I would say every single one should be extremely in(salted) Sorry could not pass that one up. My wife had to request the same side dish twice because the food was cold when we received it. Tokyo Joes was another bland affair. Just lack lustered by every means of the way. Now here is the interesting one. My wife and I decided that we were going to partake in a bit of the tropical drinks while here. I must preference this with normally we have about 3 drinks a year. So it should not take either of use any time to feel well "good". By the sixth drink each one would think we would be a bit buzzed. Nope. We are both questioning what they are using. My thought is this. They try to dazzle you with a smile and talk to draw your attention away from the pour. I believe they use a VERY watered down version of the first pour. They then add all the tropical stuff in front of you and add a very little rum at the top of the drink so your nose inhales it. Bottom line is Sandals sells itself as a premium high end travel resort. The put their food as a 5 star dining experience. It is smoke and mirrors and they do not live up to the billing. You are charged almost double to triple more than the other all inclusive resorts. At this point this is just an okay experience for $5500 for a week.

It was our 2nd time to Sandals MoBay and once again Sandals didn't disappoint. From the time we arrived till it was time to go we were treated like royalty! I so very much liked being thanked for choosing Jamaica and I enjoyed hearing, "My lady, what can I get for you?" The relaxing atmosphere, beyond friendly people, music, activities, drinks and food is never ending. It definitely makes it hard to leave. Can't wait to come home in 2024! Irie!

This was our first and last trip to Sandals. We were very disappointed. Montego Bay is right next to the airport so there are planes flying over every 10-15 minutes. The staff was nice but not friendly. Everything closes at 10pm including room service. Concierge service was non existent. The food and drinks were good and there are several to choose from. The rooms were clean but nothing more than a holiday inn room.

This resort is excellent, but not different than any of the other top-of-the-line All Inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. They offer premium liquors, but only one brand of draft beer - no bottled beers. They do not offer any single malt whiskeys. Unless you want to pay a lot more, you can only get their limited selection of house wines by the glass. Some of the food dishes were excellent, but about half of them were only average. They do not offer snacks (such as nuts, chips, popcorn). The resort is very well maintained and clean. However, very few of the covered beach chairs are available each morning along the beach, because the butlers come out at sunset to reserve most of them for those who paid extra for the butler service. This is definitely not a place for children. The last night we were there, the resort did work outside our room that required the use of power tools from 3 am until after 5 am, so we got no sleep.

This property is wonderful but the staff are even better. True heartfelt hospitality, ya mon! I am very difficult to please after leading in the hotel business for 25 years, 5star standard. My wife said don’t let their mistakes in service ruin our vacay you’re so critical. Honestly I was hard pressed to find any issues. Our butlers Cassie and Katrina were all over it. Going above and beyond to delight us. The staff at all restaurants were attentive and kind. We enjoyed every bar and the drinks were flowing and tasty! Couples massage was well done, wife says it was one of the best! Dinner for two candlelight on the water, I thought why do it for $200, I mean food is already included..... glad we did it became the most romantic experience in our 28 years together, only possible because of Cassie our butler, who worked magic to get in our last minute request. This was our first sandals experience, it was so good we booked three more while on property. I highly recommend booking, the perks are abundant once you become part of the sandals family. This is how hospitality is meant to be done and despite covid, this place and their team have not skipped a beat. Book ASAP you won’t be dissatisfied!
