    So bad, we left a day EARLY, just to go home.

    Hope you like the word NO. Service so bad, We left a day early. The property is gorgeous. So immaculate and beautiful. The staff Managment is a disaster. We were told NO so many times in the first 24 hours, I changed the plane ticket, paying more money to go home early, just to not be treated as an annoyance. Arrived at 6:30 pm, due to a delay in car service. Asked to push dinner reservation from 7 to 7:30, in order to freshen up. Told NO. Scrambled to make it; sat in an empty restaurant that could’ve easily accommodated us at 7:30. Ordered room service breakfast at 9. Never arrived. Called at 9:30 to inquire. Told it was 10 min away. We gave up and went to the pool at 9:50. Figured we’d just get something by the pool. Found a pair of lounges. NO - can’t be here. Only VIP. Need a wristband! (Didn’t see that in the brochure.) Went to sit by the beach, to adjust my mood; try to exhale and enjoy the vacation. NO NO NO! VIP only! Get OUT! Back to the pool. (Is this an acceptable place? ) Now it’s after 10. Haven’t eaten since 7 last night, remember? NO food till 11. Okay. Order at 11. Around 11:30 the food comes. Fires are cold. I put one in the servers hand and say nothing. He goes “frio”. Damn right, frio. Funny story, tho. 20 min later he brought me new ones. Just as frio. I spoke with a woman (who claimed to be the Asst Manager) named Fernanda after dinner the first night and told her disappointed we were in the service. It was our honeymoon, and there was nothing in the room. No champagne, no flowers, no gesture... she apologized and begged to give her a chance to make us feel special. That was the night before breakfast never showed. Also, we apparently had a BUTLER the whole time, but we never saw him. Never once, in 2 days. He did text me, tho. I told him we needed the manager, because the service was so poor I was embarrassed. Some man came by while we were at the pool and asked if he could change our dinner reservations back to the Italian place that we’d eaten the night before. He wanted a do-over since they did nothing for our honeymoon. He really wanted to pull out all the stops. I said , okay, sure. They sent a bottle of wine. We couldn’t get out of there soon enough. Breakfast the next morning, we didn’t dare try room service. We went to the restaurant at 9:30, and were told we’d have to wait 10 minutes for a table. We waited. Look at the photo below. Food took 30 min and was cold. Saw the waiter once to order and once when he brought the cold omelette. We had mimosas because I finally walked my ass over to the service bar and begged the bartender. At check out, Fernanda reappeared, having never once bothered to follow up on how things may have improved since I spoke to her the first night. She had an “early check out explanation form”, and I swear, I’m not making that up. (It was printed on the top of it.) She wanted me to write down anything that was wrong, as my van to the airport is literally pulling up. Pretty sure she can fill it out herself, after this gets posted. I’ll be updating, based on the resort’s response. I was told by special dinner do-over man that they would be refunding the night that we ended up not staying for. That hasn’t happened. Fernanda removed half of the $300 airport shuttle fee - yes, $300-, but then changed her mind, asked for my Amex, and ran the second half after all. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

    This resort was fantastic - great service, great food, and a amazingly beautiful property with lots to do. I want to give special thanks to the man at Local Host Service that helped us, Oswaldo. He took care of our reservations, showed up around the resort, and gave us an itinerary of things to do each morning. He was a great help!

    I traveled to UNICO with two friends for a girls' trip for the second time! The UNICO did not fail to deliver on beautiful surroundings, delicious food and well-appointed rooms. We ate at every restaurant, as foodies from NYC we are particular about cuisine. Our favorites were Mara House (lobster fried rice), Mi Carisa (squid ink pasta) and UNICO 2087 (breakfast egg dishes & lunch sushi). The spa is a lovely treat as part of your stay. Make sure to sign up early for slots to work out at the gym as they were pretty full during our day. The service is fantastic at UNICO, shoutout out to Mario at UNICO 2087. He was the best and had such fantastic recommendations for dining across the entire resort. Only negatives were the birds at the beach, they swarmed anytime people had food, and the abundance of people saving chairs at the pool with towels for hours.

    My wife and I had dinner there last night the food was outstanding. One of the entrées I ordered the waiter named Jeff suggested getting a different entrée saying that that entrée may not be a really good choice as an entrée, I took his advice and we got the one dish to share and the salmon as my entrée and it was a great call by Jeff. I really appreciated that he was forthcoming with choice I made not being a great entree. It is not often that we see that kind of customer focus. Thanks

    April 2021 Stay at Unico 2087

    We stayed at Unico for 4 days, 3 nights at the beginning of April 2021 and let’s just say we’re already planning our return! We had the most amazing experience from start to finish. Netf was our host and he was incredible in every way. Our room was amazing. We stayed in the Alcoba Ocean Front-King and it was an incredible room. Getting our covid test to return to the US was super easy and fast and all the employees wore mask the entire time. The pools and beach were amazing. The food and drinks were incredible!! The BEST food and drinks we’ve ever had at an all inclusive resort by far. The service throughout the resort was top notch. Torres on the beach was gave us amazing drink service. We were and still are in awe of this resort and their employees especially Netf and Torres. We can’t wait to return this summer!!
