Occidental Costa Cancun

Listed as a 4 star, but honestly a 2 1/2 at best. Most of the front desk and service staff were very nice and accommodating, but poor quality of food and drinks, plus lack of choices hurts this property. We upgraded to junior suite, large and comfortable. If you stay here, that’s a must! However, water in our jacuzzi tub was yellow, so sadly we didn’t use it. WIFI was a big problem, it will drop you after one hour and you’ll have to sign on again, a pain if you’re trying to make it a working vacay. Location not the greatest, unless you want to catch a ferry or party on a pirate ship. Clean beach but murky water from all the boat traffic.

We come for a nice birthday weekend getaway 7 family member and received absolutely disappointing service. The only accommodating staff were the bartender at the lobby bar. The night receptionist and ground keeper Benito Perez were absolute rude. They instead of helping us went in to asked us to not hang out by pool and go to beach as if we were not paying guests. We made no request but for service at the snack bar attended to us after a 40 min wait. Also we requested for decorations in the birthday room (322) as a surprise and it was never done. We left the hotel at 7am for an excursion when we arrived at 11pm they room was juts as we left it. When we booked this hotel we understand the food was not the best but we decided to book because the service was supposed to be good. I’m sad and disappointed at the treatment we received and my pregnant daughter was not treated nicely by Benito. I would not stay here again. Can’t wait for to leave. Day 1 and morning staff are rock stars and the night shift should take some pointers.

Very well kept and clean resort, and all staff members did a great job making sure that every precaution possible was taken to help us all stay safe and well. The service was outstanding, especially from Luis, Willberth, William, Pepe, Augustin, Ernesto, Alberto, Alfredo, Efrain, Sandra, Javier and the other William! Would highly recommend.

This place was awful. I never leave reviews but I gotta Karen out on this one. The beds were rock hard and uncomfortable. Power went out one night for about 4 hours with no explanation or apology. The drinks were so bad we barely even had any. It wasn’t the bartender’s fault, the liquor they had tastes funny. Service is slow because they are way understaffed. They don’t tell you that you need dinner reservations because the buffet is closed so I saw many large parties out of luck because they didn’t have space. The WiFi bumps you off every few minutes but they want you to use their app for menus, schedules, etc. We chatted with other “adults” and they all shared our opinion. If you’re a college kid with low standards you’d probably love it, that seemed to be most of the guests there.

This was a wonderful place to go!! The people were very caring and took wonderful care of us. I asked for a bottle of water - they brought me 4!! Clean, Safe, great food, and beautiful beach. The only reason I give them a 4 and not a 5 is because the pool was not heated, in January - you need a heated pool.
