My husband and i stayed at the Coral which is a beautiful hotel, the room was clean and the view was incredible. The resort itself is amazing with friendly staff, the marine life is beautiful, pools are clean as well as the entire resort..it was always clean which is major points when i am travelling. We had such an amazing time and would definitely return.

ROOM PROS: amazing view, loved step-out balcony, bed was comfy, & friendly cleaning service. ROOM CONS: room compact, you can feel the dirt & grit on the tiled floors (that we tracked into the room) so bring slippers you can wear in the room, some wear & tear, and you hear the music from the Coral pool all day. TOWER PROS: everything was clean, 5-minute walk to beach or to pool, nicely decorated, loved the Bahamian-flavored gelato at Sun & Ice, all staff were polite. TOWER CONS: Issue with strange smell on 6th floor of the Ocean wing. Didn't experience it ourselves but our friends who had an Ocean-side room on the 6th floor did have an issue. Unidentified smell was bad enough that our friends moved to the Royal. When they were leaving, they met another 6th-floor family on the elevator who were also leaving for the same reason. RESORT PROS: Resort is beautiful, grounds are well maintained, water park & aquarium are fun, and staff are polite & gracious. RESORT CONS: Everything's expensive, some closures during off-season, e.g. lazy river was closed, Beach Tower was closed, and some restaurants throughout resort were on alternating schedules. Received extremely rude service from nail technician at Mandara Spa. WEATHER: We visited Mar and Oct, Oct was far more humid than Mar, the humidity added about 10 degrees. Oct is the rainy time of year for Bahamas, so we had 2 days where rain came and went, and when it rained it rained hard. The rest of time was sunny and gorgeous!

Good not great, expected more for the price

In 2007, I earned a trip to Atlantis from my company. I took my wife. We had a really good time. Of course, it helped that it was paid for by my company. Still, it was a lot of fun. Now, in October of 2019, we decided to return with our kids (16 and 13). They see the ads on TV and have heard us talk about it so they were excited to visit. We saved fro the trip to make it happen. Granted, first times are always more exciting that second times. But I must say, there wasn’t the same kind of magic. Atlantis, thought still relatively young, is showing it’s age. The lobby of the Coral smelled moldy, thought I’m sure it’s not. The sliding closet door was off it’s rollers. The walkways could use a power wash. And the state in the waterpark seemed bored. There were plenty of friendly people, once conversation started. But the employees didn’t feel as approachable as you’d expect from a full-service resort. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in person, but difficult to reach over the room phones. One thing I found off-putting was how little staff knew about what was going on. We’d ask multiple people if the lagoon was open today and they all said yes, when it fact it was closed. Or when we asked what movies were showing and when…or can we bring food into the theatre…no one could provide an answer. Here are some bullets regarding our experience: * complimentary room internet up to four devices. Nice to have but interest was quite slow. * Hotel staff and a few of the on-site restaurants had friendly faces. With the outside attractions, there were more frowns than smiles * Food and beverage prices are ghastly. Some of that has to do with the 12% tax and the automatic 15% gratuity added to everything. When tip is automatic, the incentive for good service is removed. Cost aside, the quality was sub-part. We get it - we are at a full-service resort in the Bahamas where everything is imported so it’s more expensive, but the quality of the food didn’t match the price. Granted, we didn’t try any of the super high end joints simply because we had to watch our budget * During our entire 5 day visit the lagoon was closed to do an oil spill. The calm water and abundance of fish was a highlight of my first visit and I was hoping to share that with my kids, but it was closed. * The mini-slides around the Mayan Temple were also closed. That was a bit of a bummer. * The time of year (mid-October) was idea because the crowds were small. When cruise ships showed up, the crowed size grew but it was still manageable. * The recycling bins were few and far between. With all the bottled water that people drink, it would have been nice to see more recycling bins. And better labeling of the bins. Even in the hotel rooms, a split trash can (trash/recycle) would be a nice/simple upgrade. * We had pizza one night and all the trash cans outside of the pizza place were stacked in trashcans. It was overflowing. And we weren’t even there during a busy time. It looked trashy. Atlantis has great swimming pools, the beach front is large and the waves or fun. It’s also clean. It’s a fun place, don’t get me wrong. I just wanted to provide an honest assessment of our time in Atlantis.

This is our 6th visit to The Atlantis. We love this place. Our first visit was in 2008 and we fell in love with Paradise Island, the resort, and most of all the people. On our first visit we met Margo McKenzie who worked at the Marketplace - the buffet restaurant now renamed Poseidon’s Table. Margo is still here and one of the primary reasons we continue to return to visit. Eleven years of a friendship. She is absolutely a beautiful lady and human being. Margo embraced our family and made us feel special. Our kids adore her. She’s the best. We can’t wait to see her again and visit. The Atlantis holds a special place in our hearts. Thank you for all the years of memories!

We booked to stay at the Beach but probably due to the hurricane it was so quiet that we were upgraded. Lost a point for putting us in a room on the 10th floor with a gap in the balcony fence. With a one year old that is completely unacceptable. Quickly moved to an upgraded room which was much better. Another disappointment was that very rarely was our room cleaned without us asking, probably 2 of 6 nights. Not sure why this happened. The resort itself was a very mixed bag, aquariums, pools and beaches were incredible, as were the hotel complex. Food did feel overly expensive like living on a theme park (over 6$s for a yoghurt), and a bit frustrating a quarter of the resort was closed including the kids pool and lazy river. Paradise island is beautiful but felt isolated with no buses off of the island and an apparent 20 dollar taxi each way. One day we took a walk over the bridge and the boat back but not something I'd do regularly for the faff. Recommendations are firstly head to the far end of the beach as it was beautiful although no deck chairs as think it is part of the cove. Dunking Donuts for breakfast saves some money. Also makes sure you get to see the dolphins/sea lions as they are great. Really enjoyed the trip, but would not be returning to the resort at least.
