Renovations, dirty sheets, bug bites

Gail V (Utica, NY) on May 04, 2024

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, certainly the worst on Disney property. I’ve stayed at the Dolphin and loved it, but this was a nightmare. When we checked in, our sheets were dirty. They also had Queen sheets on a King bed. How could that happen? It took a few hours to get them changed, and I had wanted to nap. When they finally were changed, it was only the filthy top sheet. The stained bottom sheet was still the same. I originally booked a room on Disney property but it was being renovated, and I have a need for afternoon rest due to a medical condition, so I rebooked here. Big mistake. This hotel was undergoing renovations but they didn’t tell guests ahead of time. I called the manager and she said if the noise was bothering us we could move the next day (sunday). We had already unpacked and there was no noise on Sunday so we declined the hassle. Monday and Tuesday the noise was hammering and drilling and gave me a migraine. I couldn’t rest midday. I called to move rooms but there was no availability at that time. I tried to relax by the pool (few umbrellas and very little shady spots), but couldn’t due to drilling/setup over there for a big conference. I didn’t get to use my park tickets due to noise preventing rest, causing migraines. On top of all that, the rooms don’t have any clock, the lamp USB outlets didn’t work, the TV service was in and out, and bathrooms have no ventilation. It gets very warm and with the AC at 60 degrees it was still 70 in there, muggy after a shower without a bathroom fan. There is also no bath mat to get out, so I used a hand towel. The bathroom door opens up against the opening to the shower, within inches of the toilet. Cramped and uncomfortable conditions in the bathroom. I also woke up each morning covered in more and more bug bites. I’m not sure if it’s bedbugs but I will have a doctor look this week. The pattern of bites matches (3 in a row). I could overlook most, but with no daytime rest during a renovation that could have been avoided had I been warned, every small thing added up.

Spectacular hotel with a lot of walking space.

jeaninega (Puerto Rico) on May 01, 2024

This is my Happy Place. Lovely hotel. The best way to celebrate a new year. At the board walk was spectacular New Year’s Eve. Many activities. Love to walking all around the resort. The amenities are beautiful. Especially Disney’s Boardwalk. The Fountain Restaurant was fantastic New Year Eve. Can wait to come back.

Nice staycation once again

samsam22222 (Newark, Ohio) on Apr 23, 2024

Went for a short staycation. Was greeted promptly by Alana who kindly offered me a nice upgrade for my Marriott Elite status. Very nice! My stay was mostly good. They changed the pillows - to those new ones that are super firm - they are horrible. I did not sleep well at all the first night. I have Westin non feather pillows at my bed at home - these new firm ones are just bad bad bad. I hope they fix that before my next stay! Breakfast at the Garden Grove was very nice. We had Keisha as our server every morning - she is top notch. Hot tubs in the pool area were hot - not just warm like some hotels. The pool bar/food was clearly understaffed in the afternoons. I went to mobile order something and it said it would be an hour - and the pool chairs were only about half full. Was glad I had brought a water from the room. Before about 1-2 it was fine or you could walk up to the bar and be served quickly. Housekeeping was pretty good this trip, but the second day they didn't come to clean the room until almost 4, and we were showering for dinner by then so declined. Not sure why since we saw them in the hall starting before 9. But the housekeeping we GOT the other day was excellent in terms of attention to detail. Overall I did have a nice stay and will definitely be back. Thanks Swan and Dolphin!

Poor Experience - Construction and No Wi-Fi

Ali A on Apr 22, 2024

Incredibly poor experience while here for a conference. Was located in the east tower of the Swan Resort. Apparently they had construction (unannounced) going on and the drilling/hammering was from 9am-5pm. When guest services were told, they apologized but offered no recourse and said there was no way to rectify the situation. There was no room to move to and I was told to “deal with it”. The wi-fi connection was unusable, often disconnecting or not providing any data at all. I placed two tickets with the I.T. Department and their answer was that there must be an issue with my devices (apple products). I spent so much of my time here gritting my teeth from the noise and stress of having a normal hotel stay experience that it was an unproductive weekend. I can not with good conscience suggest this resort to anyone.

Walt Disney World Swan 1500 Epcot Resorts Blvd Orlando, Florida

C C (Henderson, Nevada) on Apr 18, 2024

It is a Disney property, so it is nice. When checking in they only had 2 people working the front counter with a long line. Make sure you ask for a nice view when checking in. We got a room with a nice view, but our friends got stuck looking at a roof. It is convenient that it is close to the Disney parks with the transportation they provide. Everything is overpriced but that is what you get when you stay at anything that has the Disney name on it.
