    Spent a week here and it was great! Food was wonderful wherever we ate. The service was top notch and even though the rooms were not pristine and super modern we spent very little there so it didn’t matter! Angelina (my sister) was a server who stood out immediately! Santos at the beach bar was top notch!!! And Thomas, thank you for putting up with us on a few late nights and providing us with great food when we needed it the most! Miguel, you’re adorable. Thank you for making us always feel welcome and special. Willy, you made the best first impression, providing us with information and reassurance within the first hours of us being there. The management at this resort should be commended. Your employee’s represent you very well! We were there during a time that could have had a negative effect but the staff always made us feel well looked after! Thank you! My only recommendation would be to bring in more Dominican style bands (like the band that performed by the pool on Dominican night), they were great

    Me and my boyfriend arrived feb 14 for 1 week. This is the best resort I’ve been to thus far- I usually go to 5 stars in Cuba. On arrival the front desk staff were awesome and very welcoming. We decided to upgrade our room to a superior room so we could be in a quieter area. The spa area is awesome and quiet so the upgrade was well worth it. Food: great! Bacon and eggs daily. They have peanut butter. Fresh fruit. Smoothie station. Really good cereal and granola. They have a panini press too so my boyfriend made breakfast sandwiches a few times. Dinner and lunch are good too. Alvin was usually our server and was always smiling and social! Hector who made our eggs everyday was very efficient and a friendly guy. Grounds: very well kept! I liked the set up of the pools- one is social, one for sports, one for relaxing. Flowers and the little creek area were very nice. Rooms: nice! The downside was that the maids didn’t get to our room to clean it until like 3 or 4pm. Two times we were napping when they came so we just ask for towels to be exchanged and they’d leave them on our door handle which was nice. Beach: didn’t spend much time here as the vendors were around all day, probably 1 every ten minutes. The beach was often very windy as well. Going on the morning was better as it was usually a bit calmer. Restaurants: they were ok. The food at the buffet was better. The fried chicken at the beach bar was soooo tasty! Entertainment: the animation team is seriously dedicated to everyone having a good time! There is a professional dance team that does some nights of entertainment and they are insane. They work really hard to master all their routines and it’s crazy to watch the non stop dancing! Bars: The beach bar was super fun at night. Pool bar was busy.... even when it wasn’t it took sometimes 15+ mins to get a drink. More staff needed here as we could only get drinks from here or the beach. There’s a paid bar in the lobby but they’ll give you beer for free. Bring bug spray for your legs at night! Lots of bugs at night on the little bridge to the beach. Overall this is a great resort. Lots of strangely terrible reviews on here... most of them are exaggerated. We were scared to go after reading them. Turns out this was one of the best experiences ive ever had at a resort. Would recommend :)

    We aren't terribly fussy, but i must say, this resort was not impressive. Platinum room, no big deal. Buffet, no big deal, ala cartes, not worth it. Those beds at the pool, were a waste of space. And of course, typical greedy guests needed more than just the bed. No chairs available. Employees were a 5* , Pablo at the lobby bar, Veronica remembered names, and our maid was wonderful. Our welcome drink was a small glass of punch????? Sorry Blue Bay, not going to be a return customer. Love Dominican Republic.

    Great beach for taking long walks

    Just returned from what should have been a 7 day trip to an adults only resort. We were only able to go for 3 days due to the news from our PM, Justin Trudeau, to return home as quickly as possible due to the Corona Virus. We arrived on a beautiful, sunny morning to a small resort with 2 pools. The third pool ( a small one) was located at the spa (that's why I an not including this one as it was not available to everyone). We were pleased to see large, king sized beds around the edge of one pool and many loungers elsewhere. Both pools were side by side. One was a swim up bar that was shallow, the other one was a little deeper with a volleyball net. There were a few activities for guests to participate in, meringue dancing or water aerobics (very fun with the animators), however due to the small nature of the resort, the nightly entertainment was lead by the same 6 animators of the day . A lot of guest participation was required for the nightly entertainment to function. Our room had a lovely garden view with a private veranda. There were two queen beds pushed together making sleeping just amazing! The high ceilings made of wood beams gave a more relaxing feel to the room. I would have liked a dresser to unpack my things as I like to get settled in instead of living out of my suitcase. We paid $25 US extra for the safe but were unable to get a refund on the days we didn't use so this was a little disappointing. Many 2 story buildings with either a veranda for the second floor rooms or a small patio for the first floor. The one buffet was ok, providing a small selection of meal options/salads/soups/simple desserts. Enough to satisfy but not enough to be adventurous. There were 3 a la carte restaurants, but we were only able to attend the seafood one, which was good, but the seafood always seemed to have too much salt. This restaurant was quite small, but it felt more personal this way. The beach was amazing! Long morning strolls were a great way to forget about everything and the green ocean was great to swim in. The hotel and grounds seem a little dated and what was disappointing was that I paid extra for a renovated room but when we checked in, the receptionist told me that there have been no renovations in 20 years! The staff were always kind and easy to talk to. The resort was not directly on the beach (no ocean views at all from any room) but it was a short walk on a narrow boardwalk, over a little man made pond to take you there. The buffet on the beach, offers a little selection of hotdogs, hamburgers, but AMAZING fried chicken! I was sorry to see this trip come to en end at this quiet, small, not too fancy resort.

    after checking in I was called back to the front desk because my payment didn't go through as yet from the travel company. went to the front desk and asked me to pay now and they will refund me when my payment went through (I booked that morning and drove up from the capital). The room needed a lot of attention, everything was rather dated due to me being used to the Marriott brand. We did enjoy our stay the food good and the entertainment was superb. At check out I asked about my refund being that my payment was cleared the very next day after checking in and I was assured that it will be returned within a week .Great. Were there in mid August 2019 for four days. After several calls I was told that the money was returned on October 8,2019. to this date there is no such transaction credited to my account. I have been sending emails and calling these people since then and all they can say is call my bank. they gave me a reference number that has no relation to my bank. It would be so easy to look into the matter and get my money to me.as of today March 18, 2020 nothing from Bluebay... Spoiled vacation
