Disappointing for a Barcelo. I understand it is an older hotel, but I've stayed in much nicer 3.5 - 4 stars. No drink service (mostly self-serve at bar), repetitive buffets, just a bit disappointing for Barcelo brand.

We are sitting in LIR Airport waiting to leave. This is our 2nd trip here and everything was as Beautiful as it was 2 years ago. Here is the honest perspective the food is good not excellent but be honest most of us could stand to lose a few pounds and not eat as much. So look at that as a blessing!!! Next the air conditioning in some of the upper floors of building 1 and 2 struggle when it is 92-95 degrees fahrenheit but not intolerable. The pools, grounds and other amenities are amazing. Definitely get a massage on the beach with Maria, Gladys, Rosa, or Nina for 40 dollars for 60 minute massage that is twice as good as any in the US. If you want to know if it is worth upgrading to premium, IT IS!! we have twice now. The upgraded liquor and service is worth it. Theilor at the pool bar is amazing if you take care of him he will more than take care of you. If you think drinks are weak just open your damn mouth and tell bar tenders you want stronger, don't bitch about it after your stay, if you didn't say anything. Last thought if you want 5 stars book the 4 seasons at a price of $12,000 USD per week that is definitely what you should do. This hotel for the price point is more than could be expected. Don't fo to a 2nd world country expecting 1st world everything. Go with no expectations other than you are in an amazingly beautiful country with the ocean, warmth and beaches. Love this place we will be back for a third time.

We stayed at this location for our anniversary and we had a great time. We loved the variety of fresh fruit and veggies at the restaurants. It is a nice location, quiet and you can see a lot of different birds, monkeys, etc. roaming around the premises. The beach is great for snorkeling, just stay within the limits, undercurrents can be pretty strong. It is a huge location, you will be doing a lot of walking, the staff is pretty friendly. The only downside is that the front staff (Ana) does not seem to have a clue where anything in the hotel is. You might have to find your own way around. Their local ground transportation that runs on gas seems to get annoying when you are trying to walk, you have to move to the side to let them go by. The guy at their tours desk (Larry) is pretty rude and will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to buy into one of their tours.

Loved our stay. We were here for 7 nights. Very accommodating for our group of 10. Physically need to be in pretty good shape to enjoy as there are a lot of stairs and walking (though they do have a shuttle if you need it). Very good entertainment and scenery to enjoy. The only things that I think they need to work on are changing up the menu in the buffet and continuity of drink quality between bars and bartenders. We did several wonderful tours through Frank the Tank tours, so we were not at the resort the whole time, but the days we spent there we enjoyed the pools, beach, ocean, wildlife, activities and meeting new people.

We just got married and honeymooned here. It was amazing!! 10/10. Loved the food, the drinks, the lounge, the pools, the tours and the people! Everyone is truly so kindhearted and took such good care of us. It's SO worth it do to the Premium Suite...just saying. The Premium Lounge was our fave! Love, your friends from LA (Aish & Eric)
