Sit back and relax – top-tier members may be automatically upgraded prior to check-in when space in the Premium cabin permits.

Complimentary upgrades are assigned prior to the opening of the 24-hour check-in period and allocated in priority order by tier, starting with Platinum, followed by fare class purchased, in descending order.

Pre-boarding complimentary upgrades

Who: Silver, Gold and Platinum members

Availability: space permitting, prior to start of boarding

Rewards: no earn/redeem of WestJet points, no qualifying spend

When available, upgrades will automatically be allocated to Silver, Gold and Platinum members members in priority, based on tier followed by fare class purchased.

If successful, a seat will be automatically assigned prior to the start of boarding, and the member will receive an updated boarding pass delivered via email and Apple Wallet 40 minutes before the flight’s estimated departure.

Requests must be made through the Platinum priority support number (via the WestJet app) between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. MT.
Valid for member and up to eight (8) additional guests travelling on the same reservation, subject to availability. Not valid for companions when travelling on a group booking (10+ guests on the same reservation).
Valid for flights throughout WestJet’s network on itineraries marketed and wholly operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore) as well as any WestJet-operated segment of a WestJet-marketed code-share itinerary. Not valid on WestJet-operated segments of partner-marketed code-share itineraries or interline bookings.
Upgrades to Premium are applicable on aircraft throughout the WestJet fleet. Original fare purchased must be one of the following, either purchased as a flight only or as part of a WestJet Vacations package:

- Platinum (EconoFlex, Econo, Member Exclusive)

Upgrades to Premium are applicable to all aircraft and destinations across WestJet’s network when space permits, excluding flights to/from Europe and Asia. Original fare purchased must be one of the following:
Economy to Premium 
- Silver (EconoFlex) 
- Gold (EconoFlex) 
- Platinum (EconoFlex, Econo, Member Exclusive) 
Valid for members on a single-guest reservation, or when travelling with one companion on the same reservation. 
Valid on itineraries marketed and wholly operated by WestJet; not valid when travelling with WestJet's code-share or interline partners. 
Eligible member's WestJet Rewards ID must be added to reservation at time of booking. 
Pending availability and subject to meeting the criteria above, complimentary upgrades will be automatically allocated in priority order by tier status, starting with Platinum. The likelihood of an upgrade will vary based on number of seats available for complimentary upgrades and number of top-tier members on the flight. If successful, a seat in Premium will be automatically assigned prior to the opening of the 24-hour check-in period and visible to the member when checking in. 
Members who receive an upgrade to a higher cabin will enjoy the same inflight service as all other guests, however, dining options may be limited when a complimentary upgrade has been provided. 
If a member wishes to be excluded from receiving all future complimentary upgrades (both prior to check-in and at the gate), they must contact us by email to make the request. Please allow up to 30 days for your member information to be removed from our automated processes.

Upgrades to Premium are applicable to all aircraft and destinations across WestJet’s network, when space permits, excluding flights to/from Europe and Asia.
Upgrades to Extended Comfort may also be provided when an eligible route is operated on a Boeing 737 or Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and will be from the original seat selected in the Economy cabin to an Extended Comfort seat.
Original fare purchased must be one of the following:

- Silver (EconoFlex)
- Gold (EconoFlex, Member Exclusive)
- Platinum (Econo, EconoFlex, Member Exclusive)
Valid for members on a single-guest reservation, or when travelling with one companion on the same reservation.
Valid on itineraries marketed and wholly operated by WestJet, as well as WestJet-operated segments of partner-marketed itineraries. Not valid on interline bookings. 
Eligible member's WestJet Rewards ID must be on the booking at the time of check-in and member must be checked in a minimum of 75 minutes prior to departure (either online or at the airport) for the member to be added to the priority list. 
Pending availability and subject to meeting the criteria above, complimentary upgrades at the gate will be allocated in priority order by tier status, starting with Platinum. The likelihood of an upgrade will vary based on number of seats available for upgrade and number of top-tier members on the flight.  
Upgrades to a higher cabin or an Extended Comfort seat will be automatically processed and provided to eligible members. Members will have the ability to opt in or opt out of being considered for an upgrade at the gate when checking in online. 
All complimentary upgrades at the gate will be facilitated through the above process; requests for upgrades outside of the above criteria or priority order, either at the airport or on board the aircraft, are not available.
