Beautiful property but disappointing in many respects

Location of property is excellent right on the beach. Sufficiently away from the surfing, partying crowd in Tamarindo but near enough to walk to town. Food was very disappointing. Buffet had little variation and cafetaria quality. Pool bar and food was even worse. Rooms are lovely with a view of the ocean. If this property had a lower rating we wouldn't have been so disappointed.

I’ve stayed in this hotel twice. First time it was ok, we had a big room to stay, clean and the three meals for the day are buffet and included. The first time no vegetarian or vegan options are offered at the hotel. Your choices for vegan are only vegetables (sometimes, don’t count on it), vegetarian might include potatoes and butter (some undercooked) and pasta (overcooked and chewie). The second time we were in room unit 3301, smaller but still ok for two people. Dirty. The lamps are full of dust, the bathroom was nasty, it had stains in the walls of the shower. The drain didn’t go down and I’d end up showering in a pool of water if I didn’t shower fast enough with low water. Once I arrived i noticed they had 3 fruits for me ready at the room, a banana, an apple and an orange ALL IN AN STYROFOAM PLATE COVERED IN PLASTIC WRAP. It’s 2020, this is not ok. The waste of plastic and the use of plastic and a waste. This is not eco friendly at all. In regards to the food, still bad. White rice would have balls of brown burnt rice. Gallo pinto in the morning was hard and overcooked. Egg did not taste good. Potatoes, some still overcooked. No vegetarian options so I decided to eat the fish (very difficult for me) to make my money’s worth. Even by deciding to eat an animal I was still left one night without being able to have dinner due to the lack of options for vegans and vegetarians. Instead of fish this night (01/27/2020) they had seafood. A bunch of crab and shrimp, oysters all mixed together. That’s too far for me and I was not even able to eat that. Vegan option? Broccoli and carrot. Salad? Lettuce and tomato maybe. They had a cold pasta salad but added ham to it. Ruined. They managed to even mess up pancakes. They were doughy and raw. Looked as if they tried to fry them. Long story short, returned a second time hoping something had changed. Nothing did. Food disgusting and not vegan vegetarian friendly. The only pro is the availability of free drinks, snacks and alcohol buy not even that is enough for me to come back. Room maintenance was also very good. I will not be returning.

    Excellent stay!!

We don't often stay at all inclusive style resorts but thought we would try this one on our road trip tour down the Pacific coast of Nicoya. This is a nice property with nice facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is Ok but not great. The entertainment is ok if you speak Spanish, mainly game shows and karaoke type stuff. The rooms could be nice but lacked cleanliness in many areas. Fixtures are worn and dated and the sliding glass door would not open. Our first room had a bad smell and we were moved after some pleading. If you like the all-inclusive style it may be ok but we found much nicer accommodations elsewhere and much better food for less money but not all-inclusive. Many hotels in CR offer breakfast included anyway. Ps needed a chainsaw to cut my steak at the a` la carte restaurant, luckily the buffet was still open afterward.
