The staff was remarkable. Trevarda was amazing at being a bartender. He was a friendly face to see and was extremely polite. Give him a little something extra for us when we aren’t around! 10/10 suggest staying at Breathless

Well it was my birthday weekend 22/23 November 2019. I was so glad that we decided to return to Breathless, Mobay. Once again we were not disappointed with the level of service or the standard or variation of the menu being offered. The butler Mark hasd such a lovely and pleasant countenance and nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you! You made the evening wonderful. The cuisine of Chef Jevaughn was as before, wonderful - The Lava Rock self cooking was truly an amazing experience. Even the Chicken and chickpea soup (not really a fan of chickpea) with croutons, was really nice. The dessert was also great, coconut cream cake, smooth. Umm!! Anyway the second night of the weekend, we went to the fabulous rooftop Altitude restaurant. , The view of Mobay at night with all the lights on was beautiful. We were hosted the charming Christine, a really wonderful personality. LaLa was our server, again nothing was too much trouble for her. Thank you!! Overall my birthday weekend at Breathless, left me feeling very special. Also both restaurants gave me a birthday cake with candles and sang.Thank you for truly lovely weekend. Will be back again!!!!!

My partner and I booked this holiday through Virgin Holidays back in February after much deliberation. The description and photos promised luxury throughout and we were very much looking forward to our trip. Check-In went smoothly enough. We were greeted with some delicious rum-punch and taken up to our room promptly. This is where we encountered our first problem: there was no tablet available in the room to access the hotel facilities (for example, room service). After an 8 hour flight and an hour's journey from the hotel, we simply wanted to order some room service and go to sleep. We called down to reception to try and order this (which took about 10 minutes to achieve as the phone wasn't working properly). Reception informed us that we simply had to order room service from our tablet, however when we explained that we did not have one and that could someone please provide us with some menus as there was not one in our room, we were told that we would be connected to Room Service directly. Once connected, the member of staff informed us, there were no menus and simply read out a list of options to us at lightning speed. In our sleep deprived state, we selected some options and it came up within 45 minutes. Three nights into our trip, our air conditioning stopped working at around 11pm right as we were going to sleep. The ceiling fan would also not work without the lights being on (very optimal conditions for sleep(!). We went down to reception the next morning before our excursion, to inform reception that the air con wasn't working and that the shower was also leaking. We were told that this would be addressed promptly before our return. When we returned, nothing had been fixed, We went back down to reception to ask them to send up someone to fix it. The maintenance man spent an hour (and had to call another colleague to assist) trying to fix this but failed to get the air con to work. We were told to either wait until tomorrow, or to change rooms. We opted to change rooms. This was highly inconvenient given we had been out for 8 hours and wanted to head down to dinner. I requested to speak to the manager the next morning, as I was very dissatisfied with my stay thus-far. The next morning the manager offered us free spa treatments or a candle-lit dinner, which we declined. We wanted monetary compensation equivalent to one night's stay, as we had to sleep in an extremely hot room for one night. The manager said this would not be possible, at which point I asked to speak with the manager above him. The manager informed me that the senior manager would be in touch. The next two evenings (after spending all day out of the room), we were unable to get into our room - the key cards had stopped working. Both times we had to go down to get them reset which didn't solve the issue. Each time it took reception 20 minutes to send someone to open our rooms for us (while we loitered outside our own room in our wet swimwear). On the 5th day of our trip (after much asking on our part) we finally received our tablet. Of our several attempts to order room-service we only actually received our ordered food 3 times (after much waiting). Repeated attempts to speak to the senior manager were noted and not acted upon - we eventually gave up! Pros of our hotel -Friendly staff -Nice looking facilities -Modern rooms Cons of our hotel -Lunch and dinner food wasn't that great - we ended up in Secrets most nights / days. -Nothing seemed to work! -Noise volumes well into the early hours. -Entertainment was somewhat lacking compared to Secrets in terms of variety and atmosphere. When paying almost two months of wages for two people, I am appalled by my stay, in what is advertised as a 5 star hotel. We loved Jamaica, but will not return to this hotel. I would like my money back. -

Not only was this my first time out of the country, it was my first time staying at a resort in general. First off, the room design was absolutely beautiful, modern, and high-tech, which was wonderful. So many inspirations for my own smart home when I got back. Having the tablet to control everything was really fun and easy. The first day we arrived, we figured we'd order up some food for dinner via room service while we unpacked and got settled in. The wait time was about 45 minutes, which wasn't too bad. 45 minutes later, no food. I re-ordered, thinking maybe I hadn't done it right the first time. After another 45 minutes, still no food. We were starting to get really hungry, and I called down to the front desk asking if food could be sent up. After talking with the kitchen via phone, the food was up promptly. Turns out the tablet was disconnected from the order menu, but only from that. (room control, ect worked fine.) Took it down to the front desk and they insisted it was fine. Being an IT guy, later on I rooted through the menus until I found the fault indicator just to confirm my suspicions. The next day, the tablet worked fine. So, I was pretty frustrated the first day, what with waiting forever and being hungry, but it wasn't the kitchen staff's fault and it was a pretty obscure issue. The tablet was kind of spotty when it came to ordering food the rest of the week, but if the error ever popped up again, I'd just call down for food and it would be right up. Not the end of the world, if a bit irritating. The only downside of being on the Breathless side of the resort was the seemingly nonstop loud DJ dance party going on down at the pool. Not so bad during the day when we could just leave, but at night, the loud bass and yelling crowd kept us up at night several times. Not a lot the hotel could have done about that....the room was nice, I maybe should have just done my research about the room placement and how loud it was actually going to be. Overall, a very nice stay. Didn't leave the resort much, but did do some shopping on the Hip Strip for some exorbitantly overpriced coffee and some souvenirs. (seriously, this stuff is like 1/10 the price in Ocho Rios) Good overall, super friendly staff, and incredible food. Absolutely delicious, in every restaurant. Seriously. Like, the best steak and salmon I've had, anywhere, including in the States. I might just stay on the quieter side if I ever do return.

I wish I could leave separate reviews...one for our team of butlers, and one of the hotel itself. First, if you can afford it, butler service is the way to go. Our team included Krishna, Andre and Adia and they were wonderful. They urged our group of four women to take full advantage of their services and we sure did. Whether it be to make our dinner reservations, bring us speciality coffees in the morning, recommend tour guides and restaurants off the resort, set up a spot on the beach for us with beds, towels and drinks or schedule spa appointments, Krisha, Andre and Adia were always very attentive and quick to respond. They were always so pleasant and friendly, we just loved them and they reallyy made the whole experience extra special. As for the hotel, it was very nice. Cool vibe, great swimming pool and fun, party atmosphere. It was also great to be able to take advantage of the Secrets nearby. The rooftop at Breathless is incredible!! Good food, great views, a fun bar and cool dip pool. Check in and out was pretty quick. Why four starts instead of five? A few reasons. I've been to the Breathless in Riveria Maya so it's hard not to compare the hotel in Jamaica to that one. I feel like the Breathless in Montego Bay is a notch under the one in Mexico, missing some of the refined qualities that truly make it a luxury hotel. I wasn't offered a welcome drink (not a huge deal but always a nice touch), and parts of the property showed wear and tear that seemed excessive for a hotel only two years old (stained or torn seats at Spoon and on the beach, chipped furniture in the room, etc.) I also felt like the cleaning could have been a little better, especially in the room (hairs around the bed and shower), and on the common property, such as fingerprints on the glass doors to the buffet restaurant, etc. Towel replacement and mini-fridge stocking were spotty. Might sound nit-picky but it's those little things that can take away from what is otherwise a beautiful property. The Breathless beach is pretty, but very rocky and drink service was non-existant (thank goodness for our butlers!). The beach and service at the Secrets resorts was much better. Tried to sit in the hottubs a few times, like on the rooftop, but the water was cold. Overall, the hotel just lacked a bit of the high-end, luxury and super cool vibe that we had in Mexico. Breathless Montego Bay is a nice hotel, but what really made our stay was the butler service. Krishna, Andre and Adia were superb!
