    Beautiful resort with poor service and no lounging at the beach

    The resort itself is very nice it was beautiful up to date with technology and LED lightning, etc. The boulevard is stunning and cool with lots of great shopping. The resort layout is nice and the central area with the lobby bar is elegant area. The food quality was the most part quite good. Best ala carte was steak house for food and service. Could never get a lounge chairs anywhere( pools, beach, even kids area) for 3 days nothing got up at 6:15am. All set aside with towel or personal items. I went on 4th day to front desk and complained to management. He told me they were at 92% capacity and were short 400 lounge chairs for guests on back order. “I said to him what do you believe most of your guests would like to do after flying 1000’s of kms and spending 1000’s of dollars?” Lay on chair at the beach or pool with a drink in the sun. That’s primary. Everyone we spoke to was upset about it. So hopefully when you arrive they have more. The drink service in bar area at beach is satisfactory at best. I tipped well at first service still did not seem to make a difference. They did not seem too eager to serve. Not much if any at all for table service around beach or pool area. Around the large pool only drink area is like a small hot dog cart type of bar. You cannot get any beer there. I would not go back to here again.

    Beautifully appointed resort

    This resort is very beautifully appointed. The resort itself along with the furnishings, artwork, landscaping are very classy. The restaurants (including the buffet) felt like very nice restaurants you would visit in any city and the food was lovely. I agree that there is a smell in the hallway behind the lobby that is worse at times than others but it certainly did not ruin our vacation. I also agree the lounge chair issue is a problem so why not just order more of them and solve this issue quickly? There is certainly plenty of room around the many pools as well as the beach to accommodate more. I think the biggest issue at this resort is staff training but you can see that this is being worked on. I bet if we went back a year from now we would experience a much different level of service and attention to detail as the resort is still in its infancy. Again, this did not ruin our vacation in any way. All in all it is a very lovely resort but management should keep in mind that with so many options to choose from in the area the things that will set them apart is attention to detail...the little things that people notice that other resorts may not do. They already have it over many others on architecture, landscaping and general ambiance so paying attention to detail will put Lopesan over the top.

    Pro: The property is beautiful and rooms were nice. We enjoyed the attentive service of the adults only pool section. Food was good at the buffet but restaurants just ok. The Mexican one was the best. Con: Several male staff members were rude, lazy and aggressively flirtatious. It was revolting. We were two women on a beach holiday and did not pay to spend time at a resort to be harassed and catcalled or whistled at by the male staff on a daily basis. A couple of the waiters who were serving us while we were eating dinner on a terrace even pulled up chairs to our table while we were eating, and joined us to ask us out on a date. This behavior was entirely unwanted and extremely inappropriate. Don't even bother trying to get a drink at the bar in the main lobby during the day. The two bartenders there don't even acknowledge the presence of the crowd waiting to be served and just take their time making a drink and joking around with one another. Lastly, we confirmed with guest services our transfer to the airport. He told us that it would arrive at 3am. He did not bother to check anything or give us any documentation for confirmation. At midnight, while we were sleeping, we received a call from reception to let us know that our transfer had arrived and it was scheduled for 12:45am. The guy at reception said he could not pick up the phone to book us another ride because that's the job of guest services (who screwed up in the first place) and they were not open. We relied on their representation to plan for our transfer and they failed to acknowledge any fault of their own. The Lopesan has replied to several other negative reviews to do damage control, saying that they value customer service, etc. These responses are nonsense; it rarely takes responsibility for what is clearly a problem at this resort, one that they do not intend to change. They need to train the male staff to be more respectful and terminate those who simply are too lazy to work. I will not be returning to the Lopesan, nor will I be recommending it to others, especially female travelers.

    The hotel was amazing. The workers were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb at every al'acarte as well as the buffets. All the bartenders made excellent drinks and the waitresses were always ready to get the drinks. The only downfalls being room cleaning and a foul smell at certain times of the day in certain areas of the resort. I think once they get the kinks out of this resort ( it has only been open for 9 months) it will truly be 5 star in all aspects.

    Special shout out to Wilkin, such a pleasure to have met him and he was so helpful :-). The resort is big and beautiful, as you may have read there is a "smell" in some of the area's and it is bad, thankfully its not all over the resort. Sometimes it felt like we were bothering the staff, this was disappointing. Wifi on the resort is excellent. The buffet has lots of options, some of the a la cartes are just okay. The Japanese restaurant was my favourite as was the Mexican. Asked for ice to be sent up to our room 2x and each time it took over 1 hour (no ice machines on the floors). Mini bar was never cold or filled up. We did not have wash towels in our room the first day. Make sure when you check in you get the beach towel cards - we didn't and then we couldn't get beach towels, had to go back inside to ask for cards (frustrating). Your room key is linked to your wrist band - this was great! Beach is beautiful, pools are in excellent shape. Resort needs customer service training and more attention to the smaller details.
