    Relaxing getaway; ARMANDO IN PREFERRED CLUB!!!

    First and foremost, I need to take a second to thank ARMANDO in the Preferred Club for the most amazing vacation. Armando went above and beyond to make sure our visit was all we could wish for. Resort: The resort is small, but it seems to suit the number of guests. The entertainment was always good and the performers seemed to enjoy what they do. Make sure you check multiple sources for times of shows and restaurant times. Signs on TVs were never accurate, the book in the room was outdated and didn't list all restaurants (or had some that were no longer there) and open / close times were different on all. It was annoying hearing different things between written documentation and staff alike. The lobby opens out to the beach which while small, was amazing. Soft sand, clear water. I did fall on some rocks in the preferred club beach area and cut my foot open. People put towels on the chairs first thing in the morning at both beach and pool and never seem to be in the chairs - it was hard to find a spot each day and not once did we find chairs available at the main pool. DJ at pool never played a full song and constantly changed the music - both type and volume. At times it was very loud and others you couldn't even tell the music was. 2 sets of elevators in the lobby and 2 on the side of the property. Often waited for elevators to make it up and down. BEWARE of time share presentation for $150 "free cash". 90 minutes of someone selling you a years worth of trips. We declined and we are glad we did. PREFERRED CLUB is worth it for the bar area on Floor 8 alone. ARMANDO in the Preferred Club spent the time to call restaurants, arrange special desserts for us and always knew what we were drinking. We spent hours in the bar area here and really enjoyed our time with Armando. Little snacks like small sandwiches, handheld desserts, and sometimes warm food were available in the bar area. Rooms: We had the Honeymoon Suite - Room 118 and 125. 118 had moisture which made the bed wet for our first 2 nights. There was a large gap in the door which exited to the balcony with cabana and hot tub. It was nice, but no privacy whatsoever and the staff never changed the sheets on the outdoor cabana. We didn't use the hot tub, so I cannot judge on that. We were moved to 125 at our request (and with no problems at all) and the room was better. 118 has rain shower head; 125 did not, but had much more water pressure. Rooms are small, but I didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it didn't matter. Mini bar was not stocked and turn down service was only done once. Pools: The "calm pool" is a deeper pool (5-6 feet) and in the corner of the resort. There is no sun here and very few places to sit. The main pool always had space (in the pool) and seemed to be the place for families. This made the swim bar nearly impossible to use as kids were often sitting at the seats. We went in once for 15 minutes and never again. Hot tub was generally full at all times during the trip - both with kids and adults - fits about 6 people comfortably. Food: The food was subpar in my opinion. Most dishes rarely lived up to our expectations. The french menu (only offered once a week and not advertised anywhere) at Waves and Sands was pretty darn good - I will say that. Reservations are not needed and with the exception of lunch, it did not seem to be an issue with wait times. Lunch however, if you aren't eating at the buffet, you will probably have to wait - especially if it's raining. I will say that IRAIS and RAUL both were absolutely amazing and made sure our dining experiences were good. While the food was not the best, the staff was by far - amazing. Also shout out to the 2 women in the buffet that make eggs in the morning - nothing beats fresh cooked eggs. Sadly (however), our over easy eggs each morning was the best food we had the entire time we were there. Would we go back? We definitely would love to see Armando again, but we would hope to see improvements in food.

    The room was clean, spacious and more than adequate to meet our needs. The room maid, Joany, was wonderful and made sure we always had clean towels, new toiletries and daily filled our free minibar. The waiters and receptionists in all of the restaurants were excellent, especially Kelilly, our hostess and Eduardo Riso, the manager in the Waves Restaurant. Our waiter in the World Cafe, Irving, was exceptional and attended to our every need. The activities run by the animation team, Carlos, Luis, Jose, Tanya and Michel were great fun and very inclusive by making every person feel special. The beach and the swimming pools were kept spotless and the waiter staff on the beach were great. We had a wonderful holiday and could not fault this hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel.

    We had a wonderful time at this resort. Pro’s -Impeccable customer service. Staff is readily available to assist with any questions, concerns or needs. Especially our Bellhop and concierge Gibran y Abraham! -Drinks are great if you are specific -Plenty of activities and entertainment -Beautiful Spa! We had absolutely wonderful massages. -Perfect location for the beach and downtown -Nice size Room and Bathroom -Nice variety of dining choices -Beautiful view of the Beach! Cons -The food was a little bland, especially at Cerviche. Luckily you can add hot sauce, salt & pepper! Our best meal was from the Italian restaurant -We had to keep asking for towels/washcloths, never had enough considering constant showering to get sand off -The salespeople for the vacation tour were very aggressive.

    We had a wonderful time at Dreams Sands. We have been to many resorts in Cancun, and this had the most beautiful beach of all, second only to Isla de Mujeres beach. Crystal clear turquoise water, white sand, and calm waters. The hotel is dated, and the rooms are basic, but very adequate. We spent all of our time on the amazing beach anyway. Sandy, the server at the beach was amazing, as was Marcos at the Olio restaurant. Food was good, and ALL staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was cleaned multiple times a day. We will be back soon.

    We chose to visit Mexico and stay at the Dreams Sands because we had such an amazing experience last year when we stayed at the Dreams in Costa Rica! We were anticipating a great time and our stay was nothing short of spectacular! This location is known for having the best beach in the hotel zone, and the accommodations and service are incomparable! Everyone here made our stay feel very welcoming! Here are some special shout outs for the people who made our stay extra special!! Thank you Juan Carlos for your warm welcome and checking in with us to make sure our trip was smooth sailing! He made great suggestions for activities and always had a smiling face to greet us! Thank you German at the spa for taking the time to make our spa day extra special and relaxing! Thank you Bianca at the spa for helping us set everything up and for being super accommodating and friendly! Thank you Kelly and Jorge at Olio for taking care of us for our lunches and dinner! We will never forget Jorge's funny stories about the octopus! Thank you to the Himitsu staff, Jaime A, Raul C, Stephania C, and Jennifer M! You guys are amazing! A special shout out to our preferred bartender Armando Vega! Thank you for making the best drinks and for being super nice! Thank you Sharai for all your help and taking care of us at the club! Thank you Carolina who helped us everywhere around the resort! You have such a great aura and you always put smiles on all our faces! Thank you Girban for helping us with our luggage and telling us jokes! All of the staff who work at Dreams are pleasant and friendly and definitely made this trip wonderful for us!
