Birthday celebration

Upon check in Brenda was amazing super kind and made our check in process smooth. She explained everything in detail and gave us all the hotel information needed for the property. Bartender Victor was amazing! Made great drinks and definitely gave all drink options available! Made us feel welcome and always made sure we had all things we needed! Visit him at the lobby bar!

Not as advertised

VulcanSmitty (North Vancouver, Canada) on Apr 29, 2024

Stay away and save your money. Resort is tired. Pool area is grotty and needs to be refurbished. Restaurant options are minuscule and food is like a high school cafeteria. Staff are rude (except for Javier who tried hard) and resort is in mended of a renovation. Pool is grotty and beach is almost non existent.

My overall experience was good. The hotel really needs to upkeep with maintenance on the property and rooms needs total renovation. I’m rating this hotel 3.5 for and 5 for service the staffs are very helpful and friendly.

Too much money for what you’re getting.

katemalyk (Brooks, Canada) on Apr 28, 2024

The rating I am giving starts right from check in. The line was short and it still took an hour. No help with luggage no welcome drink, none of the bare minimums all hotels do. With the room category we booked we were supposed to be checked in separately and get coupons etc. we did not:( Not enough chairs for people around pool. Not much shelter from the sun anywhere. First hotel I have stayed at and never seen them cleaning the pool. The staff at the pool bbq were rude. The food wasn’t good at any of the restaurants. We ate out everyday because of this. The servers at the breakfast alacarte were horrible. Never got our order right once. I am one that over tips and I honestly couldn’t find a reason to tip. Just horrible. There were two outstanding employees at the hotel. I wish I was one for remembering names because these two deserve a shout out! One was a breakfast waiter at the buffet! Best worker by far in the whole hotel! He should have been serving the other side. And our cleaning lady was so kind and full of smiles! This resort didn’t have great reviews but we booked it anyways as we were going with a group. The bad reviews this resort has received is definitely warranted. Way over priced for what you’re getting.

Great Getaway for Families with Young Kids

Katherine N (New York City, New York) on Apr 27, 2024

Our family stayed at Melia and had a wonderful time. We loved the kids club, and more importantly, our kids did too. Our oldest son (5), had a blast and loved his "teacher". She was so sweet and played with him every day. His favorite part was archery, but he also loved water polo, a blow up water slide, and playing water guns in the pool (and the ice cream). We also had a son (3) in the younger class, which he also enjoyed. That class does not go to the pool, nor do they serve lunch. We had to pick him up each day 12:45-2 for lunch break. It felt very safe for the kids. The kids club is for ages 2-4 in the young classroom (9am-4:45pm) and ages 5-12 for the bigger kids (10am-4:45, and they feed them lunch). We actually really enjoyed almost all of the food we had; we tried each of their restaurants. The staff at all of the restaurants but especially Mole were fantastic. Everyone was kind and accommodating to our big rowdy family. The drinks were fine. We were especially appreciative of Benjamin who brought us drinks to the beach and was fantastic! The activities for both kids and adults were really fun. Dad played beach volleyball, and the dance instructor by the pool was awesome. We also played pool bingo. The beach itself wasn't perfect- the water wasn't the prettiest but was fine, and the sand was soft but not necessarily beautiful, but we loved it all the same. The views looking out were gorgeous, especially at sunset. If traveling with kids, rest assured that they have abundant highchairs, pack n plays were waiting in our room, and they did everything they could to accommodate our little ones. Overall this was an excellent trip for our family, and I would highly recommend it for parents and kids alike!
