We just arrived home from our first trip to Varadero, Cuba. We stayed at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar from Oct. 9-16 2019 on the regular level not the Royal Service level. We were expecting to be disappointed being that Cuba has some challenges with food and amenities consistently being available but I’m glad to say we were pleasantly surprised at the level of food and amenities offered. While the resort was not very large it was constantly being serviced whether that was the gardens, building upkeep and maintenance etc. People were always working but always had an ‘Hola’ or ‘Hello’ for you. We found a lack of entertainment around the pool kind of disappointing but nobody seemed too put off by this. They had a few ‘shows’ in the evening but mostly just music playing in the main square . The reservation restaurants we tried were really good Hilltop, Sakura, Bamboo and Marseille. The real highlight of this resort are the staff, they are truly fantastic people. We met Amed and Odelaysie in the Sakura restaurant and they made the teppanyaki experience amazing, they could not do enough to make us happy. We had a special dinner in the Hilltop restaurant for my husbands birthday dinner and even though I can’t remember our servers name (sorry) she remembered us when we went back for another dinner with friends that week. All in all a really good experience for our first time to Cuba, a few hiccups but nothing so bad as to ruin our vacation. Thanks for the great week Paradisus Princesa Del Mar!!

My husband and I returned to the Paradisus Princesa del Mar in October 2019. We stayed on the Royal service side of the resort in a suite with a beautiful view of the resort and the ocean. This property is very clean and well maintained. If you have never been to Varadero, the beaches here are incredible! Gorgeous white sand beach and turquoise waters. On the beach on the Royal Service side, Felix is instructing the most amazing stretching class directly on the beach! The classes started at 10:30 am daily, and I would highly recommend trying Felix's classes which are suitable for all ability levels. One of the perks of staying on the Royal Service side is access to a separate buffet and we had breakfast there daily. You can sit outside poolside or inside in the air conditioning during those super hot days. Our servers here Danays and Aida were awesome! During our stay, we returned to a couple of the a la carte restaurants that we have tried and enjoyed during previous visits. The Marseille restaurant is the french restaurant on the regular side of the resort. Michel and Maggi were fantastic and the food was great! We had the shrimp salad appetizer and the beef entree, delicious! We also had two dinners at the Hill Top restaurant. Service here is excellent, our servers were Marielys, Darien and Xavier! The ambiance of this restaurant is lovely with high ceilings and large beautiful windows. However, sadly, there have been some unfortunate changes made to the menu since our last visit to the resort in January and the food was very disappointing. The first evening, we tried the crab and shrimp crepe which was awful, no visible crab meat or shrimp just some kind of a paste inside a thick dough which clearly was not a crepe. This appetizer was completely inedible. Two of the other appetizers are raw shrimp and the other is raw fish. The cold cooked fish appetizer we had already tried at the Miramar restaurant one evening that the Hilltop was closed and it was terrible as well. The second time we went to the Hilltop we tried the soup appetizer which was much better. For entrees, my husband tried the fish which was not very good, although better during the second visit and I had the beef which was good. Hopefully, they will be able to revamp the menu here as I am sure that they could do much better and I would suggest adding a small salad as one of the appetizers. I also wonder what ever happened to the lobster tails that used to be one of the main entrees and are now only available as an up charge. You really would expect better for a restaurant that is only accessible to the Royal Service clients. The cigar bar is a great place to visit after dinner. Ivan, Jean, Barbara and all the staff are super. The Piano bar is also nice but closed for renovations during our stay this time. Another perk of the Royal service side is that you are assigned a butler who will take care of all the little things that make your stay more enjoyable like taking care of restaurant reservations so that you do not have to stand in line. Our butler Yan was such a great guy, such a pleasure meeting him! The gardens at this resort are beautiful. Ramone and Alejandro are just two of the great hard working people maintaining all the lovely lawns, trees and flowers. Thank you so much to all the wonderful people here! We can't wait to see you again soon!

Princesa Del Mar = our second home We were there mid september 2019 for the 6th time since 2015 ? We want to thank Mari, Arletys our Butler and Yasnivy who made sure we had everything we needed and that we are satisfied every single minute we spend there. Royal lobby staff are all amazing (Randy, Yan, Joel just to name a few) Beach bars, Mila, Lily and Nacho at the Royal, we surprise them every time and we have a blast all week ! Richard at the other beach bar, what more to say, the best drinks and service you can get from him too. The Legendario was soooo good all week long. We regularly stop at the pool for late afternoon drinks, the staff there are amazing Annarays served us great drinks !! And these 2 guys are so friendly, Niosbel and Michel. Dinners, just go anywhere and it’s good, we love the Marseilles (Michel and Maggy) and the Hilltop, (Mairelys) We also love going to the Sakura (Daniel, Yosvani, Suly, Ahmed) We spent all our evenings at the Piano Bar with Yosbel and Luis David, we have a blast every night, stop by to see Victor and Christy at the Cigar Lounge, Rayko and Melissa at the Bamboo restaurant. Are we going back ? Hell ya we’re going back and hopefully soon ! Check out the first Palapa on the left, front row, our names are there and each visit ! Negatives : none !

I visited this resort recently for a girls trip. We had an amazing week because we always have fun no matter where we go. That being said I have to write an honest review if you are looking for a five-star adult only resort I would not recommend this one. The rooms are clean but are in much need of updating. All the walls need to be painted and the furniture all needs to be replaced. The one thing I will say about the rooms is the beds were comfortable. It was hit and miss whether you got turn down service in the evening I don’t really care if anyone turns down my bed but it was nice to have fresh towels for the next day. The mini fridge was stocked some days and not others and because Cuba was having so many problems getting things you were lucky if you got a can of cola in your fridge. The pool area is very beautiful but it needs a lot of repair the pool itself is full of mold and has many missing tiles. Other than that the pool area is gorgeous and the grounds are kept immaculate. The food is what it is in Cuba but we don’t expected to at least be able to get a cola and eat French fries or pizza but not at this resort. The beach is gorgeous but watch out for the sand fleas they are horrible. The people I was surprised how ignorant some were as I have never experienced that in Cuba. The staff at the snack bar were so rude we didn’t even want to go there and if they ran out of items they just sad no instead of asking to be restocked. In the lobby they ran out of brandy to make Spanish coffee and when we mentioned that to a manager he rectified it in 5 minutes. The piano bar was closed all week but no idea why! The entire resort needs to be closed and upgraded if they want to be close to a 5star.
