I had the pleasure of working with the Secrets Hotel team while coordinating a large group trip of approximately 150 attendees for our annual President’s Council trip, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the very beginning, Axcel and his entire team were outstanding. Their level of professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for our group truly set them apart. Coordinating a group of this size can be complex, but the team handled everything seamlessly and proactively, ensuring every detail was thoughtfully managed. They consistently went above and beyond to make our group feel welcomed, valued, and special throughout the entire stay. Whether it was our private check in, event coordination, accommodations, dining experiences, or on-site support, the service was exceptional and always delivered with a positive, can-do attitude. Perhaps most telling is that I have heard nothing but glowing feedback from our attendees. The group repeatedly shared how impressed they were with the service, hospitality, and overall experience — many describing it as one of the best trips they’ve attended.

We are currently still here at Secrets Playa Mujeres… we’ve been here for 10 days and leaving in two. This is a really nice resort, we go to Mexico every year and this is the 4th Secrets resort we have been to. We are not preferred and don’t feel like we are missing anything. Housekeeping and the mini bar crew have been prompt and efficient. I will say it seems like the do not disturb buttons don’t quite work right… but we figured it out and rely on the door hanger more than anything… The beach and pool servers have been really good. I would like to shout out MARU for her excellent service and attention at the pool… she made sure that we always had what we needed before we even knew we needed it! Then she made sure to let Daniel know our drink order fo the next day when she was working another area of the resort. DANIEL also did a good job for us… searching out coors light when his bar ran out. The basic room is very nice… hot showers, good AC, and a really nice view of the ocean… even though we are not ocean front… The buffet has been very good for breakfast and lunch… it is a smaller buffet but they have everything you need and the staff is very attentive and replenish the food often… I do wish there were palapas for us regular folk at the beach though… there are not enough umbrellas on the beach for everyone and we had to get out there early to get one. the entertainment staff work hard to greet you and let you know of the activities the day. Fernando and Mimo are always encouraging fun!

Excellent Resort! Gabriel in the Market Cafe was the best and a treasure for Secrets. Adrian working the Beach and Pools, Sebastian and Carlos handling Activities were also top notch!

This resort is spectacular. Food was five star, entertainment was great and I would like to point out the entertainment team of Fernanda, Carlos Jesus and their boss Nolan. They went above and beyond to make sure all the guests were treated graciously. They kept the guest entertained all day. It looked to me the best activities where the tastings and bracelet making. A lot of the adults, missing their children and had bracelets made for their kids and or grandchildren. This is definitely a resort I would return to again and again. My two negatives were the golf and complimentary bottle of alcohol in your room. They advertise complementary green fees and an actuality. They change the policy to 40 or 45% discount on greens fees so in total if you were wanting to play golf it would be around $250 per person. Here again, the policy changed and no longer honor the complementary bottle of alcohol in your room when you arrive. I think they should do a better job of updating their website and or package deals with their travel agencies and Apple vacations.

Let me start by saying that I have stayed all over the world and in many Mexico hotels over the past 30 years. I am a flight attendant for a major airline and I have always loved Secrets resorts! My husband and I just stayed at secrets Akumal in October which was fabulous. I’ve stayed at the Excellence, Beloved, Finest, Atelier, secrets maroma, the vine and costa Blanca in cancun. I’ve also stayed at Le Blanc, Dreams and TRS coral and have never had an experience like this before. I booked this resort for a 50th birthday celebration with 11 women. (5 rooms total) Some of us had been here before and I’d been here 3 times in the past 3 1/2 years and have always LOVED this resort. We were excited to see the renovations and updates to the property. What we got was 2 rooms with no hot water, 1 room with a toilet that wouldn’t flush, food that was mediocre at best and a very understaffed resort. The only meal we all enjoyed was the hibachi where Tomas, Juan and Francisco were the highlight of our whole trip. Oceans took over 2 hours to eat after waiting 90 minutes for our table. The “steak” was not steak and it looked raw. If I can add the picture to the end of this review, I will. The line for omelettes was usually 10-20 people deep with only one chef. The service otherwise was great at the market. The pool situation is crazy. They give you 30 minutes to get back to your chairs before they remove your things. Eating Breakfast at the buffet, between waiting to get in and the omelette line, pretty much took up that 30 minutes. Some of us wanted to walk on the beach in the morning, but had to be back in 30 minutes so they wouldn’t take our things…The pool concierge had a clipboard and noted the time. We never had more than 5 chairs, we weren’t trying to reserve 11. They were extremely rude about this and it was very off putting from day 1. The entire main pool area had 2 servers for everyone. These poor ladies were working so hard and obviously couldn’t keep up. We felt so bad for them. The pool was Very understaffed. 4 out of the 5 rooms only got housekeeping service when we called to ask for it. We really just needed new towels and the refrigerator to be replenished, but had to call everyday for that. No, we did not have the “do not disturb “ sign or light on the doors… we checked ?? The entertainment staff was great during the day. The resort does a great job of clearing the seaweed from the beach and the sand is amazing. The gym is good, clean and cool. The same gentleman has been there for years and he’s great! We are all moms with kids in HS or college and are pretty easy to please. I have never written a review like this before, but because I read these to choose my hotels, I thought I should. Sadly, this resort has either gone through a management change or just doesn’t care anymore. I am happy to answer any questions anyone might have. Like I said earlier, this was my 4th time at Secrets Playa Mujeres and it will definitely be my last.
