Good Experience

Tourist25610106733 (Dallas, Texas) on Apr 20, 2024

I had a great time here with friends for 3 nights. We had the swim up room. The hotel could definitely use some updating but the people are very friendly. Good service, comfortable beds and the pool area was clean and not crowded. This resort is big and everything was included except the spa. 7.5/10 experience.

Hyatt Zilara Montego bay

philipchaon on Apr 14, 2024

Hyatt Zilara in Montego bay is for adults only. Beautiful nice beach front. The Staff are very kind, generous, they will give you anything you desires. foods and drinks are available everywhere in the pool, beach, room. Activities are on going the whole day. The Jamaican Rootz is my favorite restaurant with the fresh Snapper, in escabiche or steam cooked ,Curried goat, oxtail, ceviche. and their own made Chili ice cream. Every night there are shows on both Ziva and Zilara of your choice. The Choicez, buffet style, is the place to go for breakfast, fresh tropical fruits, Indian, American and,Jamaican flavors. Urban Heatz is for ala carte breakfast and dinner.

Great Vacation with a few hiccups

Jessie W (Burlington, Canada) on Apr 14, 2024

We just returned from 5 nights, 6 days at Hyatt Zilara! Overall we had a great vacation with a couple of hiccups that very well could have been situational. I'll start with the positives- The resort grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. The staff clearly works very hard to keep the landscaping (including the beach) looking fantastic. The food was awesome. Tons of variety, availability and the level of quality and freshness was very high. If food is very important to you on a vacation, this is a great resort option. The beach is awesome. We are beach people, we didn't spend any time at the pool so cannot comment on that. There are some rocky areas in the water, so be aware of that. Many people were wearing water shoes. It didn't bother us at all, but I have stayed at resorts in the area that were completely rock-free and this one isn't. We were able to do some snorkeling (and we saw some beautiful fish) on one of the more calm days. We did the catamaran ride (included with your stay) and we both loved it. It's a pretty quick (maybe 20 mins total) excursion and I would definitely recommend it. Overall, the room was good. We stayed in a King Junior Suite swim up. The location was good, central to the main Zilara lobby area. This means that you'll hear the music/entertainment until it stops around 10pm. That didn't bother us at all but it may bother you if you prefer a more quiet evening in your room. We did notice on about Day 2 that our sliding door was not secure on the one side, as in, was open and couldn't be locked. That's a significant security issue as we were on the ground level, anyone could have entered our room. Cleanliness of the room was good, no complaints. Others have reported that the rooms are dated, I did not get this impression. The staff - Some of the staff are very friendly and some gave off a downright unapproachable vibe. We found it to be very hit and miss. I completely understand a resort of this size will present a mixture of personalities but this is definitely something that hotel management should address. Overall, this didn't detract from our stay, but definitely something we noticed. Communication - Needs some work. We arrived at the hotel early and our room wasn't ready (totally fine, we knew check-in isn't until 3). The person that we were speaking to didn't make any attempt to let us know where we could get changed, or where we could get something to eat. She handed us a QR code to scan with resort information and sent us on our way. On the last full day of our stay, we headed to the beach to get a spot, only to find most of it blocked off with caution tape and a sign saying the beach would be closed at 12pm for a private event. We spoke to a staff member and he told us that the closure was from the night before, and we were fine to set up. So we did, only to be told a short while later that we had to move as the event was actually not the night before, but later that day - and it wasn't impacting just the adults only beach, but one of the family side beaches as well. We moved over to the family beach side not knowing this, only to be asked again to move because we were in the way of them setting up a stage for the private event. We totally understand the nature of the business at these resorts, and that sometimes large groups or parties are hosted, but we both felt that there should have been better communication from the staff and that attempts should have been made to minimize the impact on other guests that are paying to be there. I don't personally feel its right to close almost the entire beach for a private event when you have a hotel full of guests outside of the private event. Overall we had a great vacation. We were able to relax, enjoyed the food and the drinks, and we enjoyed some great chats with staff members. I am unsure if I would stay here again but I would recommend it to others because I think some of the more negative aspects of our trip were situational.
