The hotel staff were very friendly, the position on the beach was fabulous, almost at the end of the hotel strip on the beach. The hotel staff couldn't do enough for you . The spa, gym and both pools were all fabulous to use. Spotlessly clean and safe . The wrist band idea for your room entry was a really good idea
Quiet and away from the madding towns and crowds

Great location and within minutes from local shops, restaurants and cafe's. Big shout out to William, he really added value to an enjoyable stay. Breakfast at the Romarley beach restaurant doesn't serve pork, so only turkey bacon. You have to use the rooftop bar for real bacon. Staying for a few weeks we noted a lack of consistency in their delivery of food at breakfast. Inconsistent plating up. Food was great by the way, and if you didn't know you had items missing your probably would let it slide. Same with room service, towels, flannels were consistently taken and not replaced. The timeshare hook-up at check in was pleasant. The talk itself, thorough but pressured. Beach is cleaned every day and is marvellous. They need to do something about people holding chairs whilst they go off through the placement of towels though.

It’s truly hard to find anything we didn’t like about our stay here! From the incredible staff, accommodations location and food we were absolutely blown away by our week stay! Tony the amazing concierge, Axel and Jessica our incredible servers on the rooftop, the incredibly kind Moises at Marley Restaurant, Alain for his amazing cocktails and Ana Rosa, Adriana, and Samir in the spa where we received the BEST massages we’ve ever had! We travel all over and have never had such an amazing experience as we did at The Fives Oceanfront! We can’t wait to return! You won’t regret staying here!
Lovely and relaxing time at the Fives

We loved our stay in the Fives - the hotel is beautiful , beach is lovely and the hard working people clearing the sea weed off the beach made sure it was always clean . Our room 05 on the the same floor as the reception ( 1 bedroom sea view residence ) was amazing and very spacious , bed was very comfortable it had a huge balcony with a view of the sea and the ‘jungle’ . It was very private and always in the shade , we loved it. We thought it was a much nicer location wise then the rooms overlooking the pool and even those at the front with a full sea view . Breakfast options were plentiful and delicious , we went to both ground floor and roof top restaurants and although similar menus are varied so it was nice to have a change from day to day . Best day for us was beach bbq with a live reggae band ( it’s on Sundays ) - such a fun day with delicious fresh seafood ( expensive ) . We met some lovely people while staying there , and we would definitely return . Tip We decided to go for breakfast only option and were so glad that we did as we got to experience the charming town of Puerto Morelos and it’s amazing restaurants and beach bars .

We have been home a week now and so had time to consider this review. And it's a 4 from us rather than 5. The 'star' is lost for one reason - that is the persistent unwanted and unnecessary 'pressure' from the reception staff to attend one of the hotels' presentations re timeshare or shared ownership. We indicated early in our stay that we weren't interested, but that didn't stop them. Indeed, on one occasion, we were asked why, and they came back with the same reasons why we should attend. It was simply not 90 minutes we wanted to spend in a 'sales' presentation. During our 2 week stay, we saw numerous people being 'hosted' on such a presentation. Clipboard and paperwork to hand, the presenters appeared to be boring the pants off the recipients. Indeed, we had chance to speak with other guests who had succumbed to their presentation and they confirmed the amount of pressure they felt and found it hard to escape. Having said all that as a negative, the hotel has lots of positives. The main one is the staff- all friendly and welcoming whether servers, bar waiters, cleaners, beach waiters et al. Also, cleanliness around the hotel cannot be faulted. Constant attention means the whole place is spotless and keft fresh. Location is excellent too- just a 10 minutes stroll to the town of Puerto Morelos which offers all that a casual visitor might require. Lots of cafes, choice of restaurants and bars plus a v well stocked supermarket in the centre. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 10 days would have been enough but management should address the issue mentioned to improve the feel of reception.
