Unfortunately not the experience we had hoped for. Subpar food, loud environment and extremely rude staff. Sint Marteen is a nice place but I suggest you find somewhere else to stay. Sonesta is not a great choice.
Not good compared to Ocean Point

Quite a disappointing visit to the family side after having stayed on the adults-only side twice. Check-in was weird, as I had pre-paid for a birthday package, so I assumed they would have worked on this before my arrival. We were told at check-in that the room was not yet ready and to come back “when we feel it’s ready.” My wife said, “I feel it’s ready now,” and she went back to the computer and said, “Oh, yes, actually it is.” WHAT? How does that change in under five seconds, unless the stars had aligned so perfectly that by the time we handed over our IDs and credit card and received the resort papers, they had somehow finished decorating? As a Platinum member, I expected a little better service, but there was no recognition of status or separate lines like at every other hotel. The welcome drinks were nice, though. I agree with the comments about the food. It was decent for the resort you're paying for, but we did venture out a few times and had much better food. The Italian spot is the best of all the restaurants besides the adults-only Azul. Most of the bartenders were quick and friendly. Ramon at the casino bar was fantastic. I found out that his dad used to work here too! Let's get to the biggest disappointment of the trip: the safety of our room and the lack of care from management. The deadbolt lock did not function, so we could only rely on the outside handle not moving and the latch lock. I raised this issue with multiple people via email, including Jovanny, Onicka, and others at guest services, but I have not received a single reply to this day regarding our June trip. I went to the front desk, and the person simply said, “Use the other lock” (only the latch lock). I asked, “Is this acceptable to you?” and he kept repeating, “You have another lock.” Quite lousy service for them to not care about guest safety. Another small disappointment was the pool bar drinks. A few times in the afternoon, they would start using paper cups, which were terrible for cold drinks. The Ocean Point side has plenty of plastic cups for the pool, so why not provide them across all the pool areas? If we had to come back, we would stay on the adults only side or choose another resort for a family experience.
Terrible 3 star pretending to be more

I never write reviews. Worth making sure others know what they're getting here. Definitely visit St. Martin. Don't stay at this resort. Three star at best. Do the math you're not saving much by going all inclusive here when you realize what you're getting (not getting). Long lines even during off season. Terrible small twin beds (not double) and pillows. Drinks are poor. Barely any service by pool. All restaurants are closed aside from peak hours and the only possible option for food is a 45 min wait for hotdogs and hamburgers. Really nothing you would expect from any all inclusive. St Martin is beautiful. Good chance this resort will dampen the experience.

The most lacking in amenities for an all inclusive. The reception staff is incompetent we came in a Monday when there was light traffic when we checked in and our rooms were not ready. We weren’t offered any type of compensation. I thought this was an isolated incident however by Thursday the entire lobby was full of reserved guests waiting up to 3 hours for their room which jammed the elevators throughout the dinner rush. We were in town for a wedding that the rehearsal dinner only happened with 1/2 of the wedding party due to not being able to receive a room prior to the rehearsal. The maintenance crew was power washing the deck at 1am. And when I explained to reception that it’s very loud they said “ well when do you want us to do it?” When I inquired about changing my room due to a bad smell. I was told to come back in the evening. I questioned what would be different in the evening to which the staff responded “ to be honest I wasn’t listening, can you say it again.” The prices per room are competitive with the area so I’m expecting better service or at least comparable. I asked to speak to a supervisor they said in the morning they would pass the message along. I’m back home and never heard from anyone.
