TripAdvisor Traveler Rating

My husband and I decided to spend our one year anniversary here at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. We arrived with such excitement but was greeted with rudeness. The people at the front was shooing us for stopping at the front to check in. Not really an issue but the way she came at us was off putting. We got the the desk after I parked the car in the sketchy parking deck, there were two lines priority and check in. After standing at the check in lane for 30 minutes we were told that there was only one line. So we joined the other line. The bell hop came to us and was very demeaning and told us if we’re not priority check in we need to go to the other line. Mind you there wasn’t anyone else behind us. We got settled and headed to the restaurant. The staff was rude and was very dismissive. We looked around and everyone else of the same color was being greeted with a smile but we caught attitude. Forgot most of our order and never came back to check on us. Dinner time at La Fontana was superb they were nice, attentive and went above and beyond. One girl even wrote down places for us to check out. One guy at the buffet was nice and attentive as well and a guy at the Mexican restaurant during dinner time was attentive. The rooms were ok but not for the price we paid. It was a bit old and dated. The walls were thin and you can hear people moving chairs in the other room. You can also hear people walking around. The island was also subpar! Was full of trash and the roads were terrible. The beaches had lots of potential but were not kept. We drove around the island and found our selves coming back to Long Beach over and over. Not only was it kept but there were less people there sometimes just us. None of the rowdy, weed smoking, no manners, cursing crowds. Here, we were able to relax. All in all, I don’t think I would come back here. It was a one time visit just to see what’s there. But if you have to save up to come here, go somewhere else. There are better places to spend your hard earned/saved money.

Way below of what we expected. Subpar food, crowded, grumpy/rude staff, dirty room, sewage smell everywhere, noisy.... never again. We should have believed all the negative reviews...

Rooms was very dirty when we arrived but Debbi weeks helped me with getting my room cleaned also Neil the manager in the food dept was great Beatrice brown cleaned my room for the rest of the trip so my stay turned out Much better thanks to Debbie the supervisor Neil the manager and Beatrice the maid they were very helpful professional patient the entire trip

Me and my girlfriend booked a week at this all inclusive resort and although the food could have been better prepared, we always found at least one dish that was to our liking. I want to give a shoutout to the manager Jovanny Smith that went above and beyond to assist us with a room complaint. He couldn't do anything in the day that we checked in but he asked is to be patient and to come see him the next day. And he kept his word. We went to see him and he took good care of us.

The island is beautiful, the resort is pretty and the food is not bad. However this is by far the WORST customer service I’ve ever encountered at any resort. They simply do not care and are rude! Not helpful at all
