Stunning Views, Resort was Fair
jmtflorida (Jog Road, Florida) on Jul 17, 2026
The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views from our room and from both of the main restaurants. Azul was the standout restaurant, although the food overall was hit or miss. Service was fair, but many of the staff did not seem especially engaged or happy to be there. We are fairly low-maintenance travelers, so it did not ruin our stay, but the service could have been warmer and more attentive. The resort itself felt somewhat run down and the grounds needed maintenance. There were loose pavers throughout the property and quite a few tripping hazards, so be careful where you step. The pool was clean and inviting in the morning, but by midday, I personally would not have gone in. There also were not many activities offered. Something simple like beach yoga or other wellness activities would have been a nice addition. The resort has two very different sections. For adults traveling without children, I strongly recommend staying on the adults-only side. We enjoyed our time there, but I would not choose to stay in the other section of the resort.

Where should I begin..... we went to this resort for our cousin's bachelorette, so we were a traveling party of 11 people. We booked 3 separate rooms, and we should've known it was going to go downhill from the point of checking in. When we arrived, we stood in line for quite a while as it was very busy. When we finally made it to the front to check in, only 1 out of the 3 rooms were ready. That's odd since check in isn't until 4 PM and we showed up after that. They told us the remaining 2 rooms will be ready in 20 mins or so. We asked if they would call us and they said no. Ok, that's odd because why wouldn't you? So, we said we would come back and check. We all went upstairs to the room that was ready to drop off everything and went to grab a bite to eat. Well, the buffet was closed as dinner hasn't started yet. So, we walked around the resort to check it out. Some of our crew went to check to see if the room was ready, we gave it 40 minutes, but again it is not ready. It wasn't until 2 hours later that the other 2 rooms were ready. This to me is unacceptable. After a day of traveling, we want nothing more than to get situated in our room. We've been to many all-inclusive resorts, and this is probably the worst one we've ever gone to! I have never experienced such terrible service from the employees at an all-inclusive resort. Not all but many of them are very unfriendly and made you feel like you shouldn't have been there. They were either very rude or very mean and for no apparent reason. One example is the snack shack by the pool... we wanted a hamburger and hotdog, so when they called for last call for hamburgers, one of my cousins thought they meant they ran out of hamburgers. So, she said since there are no more hamburgers, can I please get a hotdog, and the gentleman proceeded to chastise her because he did not say there are no more hamburgers. It was a simple misunderstanding. He could've just said we still have hamburgers. There was no reason to yell at her. It makes no sense to me. The employees either make or break your experience and unfortunately, they ruined our experience. That being said, I would like to give a special shoutout to the employees who were phenomenal! Jackie, the casino attendant, was always helpful and kind! She made you feel welcome and was always willing to help. The lady in the cafe, she was always nice when I went in several times a day to order my cappuccino. The servers at the buffet... something can be learned from them because each and every one of them was so nice! Shout out to Juan and Rheno who took really good care of us every time we were there. Housekeeping team was great as well! Whenever we requested more pillows, towels, or toilet paper, they came right away! Their service was phenomenal. As a group, we agreed we would return to the island but not to the resort. This resort being the only all-inclusive on the island, I can see why it is popular. Unfortunately, their service did not hold up. Please do better training with the staff regarding their friendliness and rudeness.
*STAY AWAY* DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!

*STAY AWAY* DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! I have been traveling since I was there in mid April, but I feel I need to let others BE VERY AWARE of where they are staying. I wouldn't want hard earned money go to waste. Never do reviews, but I felt obliged to. { well, my husband was the one that is insisting I warn other fellow travelers!!} Where do I start? yes, it's the ONLY all inclusive on the island, but there is a reason!! SXM is KNOWN for its great culinary diversity! They have Grand Case on the French side also known as the Culinary capital of the Caribbean!! even the restaurants across the street from the hotel are a BIG improvement. They tell you "we have 8 restaurants" BUT ONLY two open at the same time!! That's VERY misleading!! Food is a hit or miss. I must say that we did do the "azul experience" as it's the only decent food, a la carte.. but it's on the Ocean Point side. Maho guests CANNOT even step foot on the OP side, only if you book this experience. Now, as for the hotel. YES, it smells like poop. mostly on the 4th and 3rd floors { where some family had the misfortune of staying} it REEKS, and sometimes it also reeks by the pool; stay away from the 33,35,37s- odd room numbers facing the back. they have this problem with sewage smell, they are WELL aware of it but they do not care!! they should decommission those awful stinky rooms, but they don't. do not even get me started on the FD "management" or should I say "MIS Management" bunch of people with frowns on their faces, or as another guest pointed out " the director of rooms" had a constant resting bitching face.. they were berating the hard working staff because they AGREED w us the room smelled, but all you could be bothered to do was yell at them FOR AGREEING with me?? rooms are "okay"- depends where it is located, and what kind of a room you have. Stay away from their "Superior"that is a basic, I know the 9th & 10th floors are for adults only but we didn't get to go there as it's a different color band. not only that, but the other guests.... don't want to sound mean, but reminds of a Carnival Cruise ship... you know what I mean, they type of clientele that gets offended by everything but they can continue and act like,,,, twerking, eating like slobs.. don't get me started on the way they dress... another joke is the "Guest Conduct Policy" they make you sign when you check in. Stating that if you disrespect an employee or another guest, you will get thrown out That doesn't happen. we witnessed multiple times, guests blasting their bluetooth speakers by the pool, security would come and warn them; saw a lady manager try to make them stop but they ganged up on her, we could hear them insulting her, giving her the finger. She actually said outloud that they were violating the policy, that she felt bad for his family for his actions as he would be kicked out. the stuff he said to her, WOW and NOTHING happened! the next day, the SAME guests did the same thing, and nothing was done. It's a joke, same guests, same speakers. same result - NOTHING. it's NOT a FOUR star ; maybe a three on a good day if it's not too crowded.. do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.. the island has plenty of other small boutique hotels if you don't want to do AirBnB. Next time we are going to stay at the Grand Case Beach Club on the French side. This totally turned us off from any more 'all inclusives' I can understand why people feel "safe' at an all inclusive, but trust me, you don't need an "all inclusive on this island"
DO NOT BOOK!! - TAKE MY ADVICE

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I have never wrote a review before but was so unhappy with this hotel that if I would of read a review like this before booking the hotel, then I would of never stayed here. Had a great experience in Sint. Maarteen the time that was not spent at the hotel. The pictures and videos on their website look NOTHING like the hotel. The only thing convenient is that it is located near the airport. The village area around the hotel is run down. Booked this hotel specifically because it was an all inclusive, but the food and drinks were extremely low quality that we ended up paying to go out to eat and get drinks everyday we were away. The liquor selection is all low quality low tier and all the drinks tasted disgusting and watered down. The entire hotel was dirty and all the drinks had a bad dirty aftertaste. For the money that was spent to stay here, the quality of the food and the overall hotel did not match the standards expected. The food was practically inedible. I also got sick from the food the last day after I ate the breakfast buffet. Extremely low cleanliness from the staff. At the buffet the staff members would use their bare hands to put oregano on the pasta, at the bartenders would put their dirty sweaty hands on the top part of the straw while serving a drink. The entire time staying here did not feel like vacation, the hotel staff were extremely nasty. I barely ordered any drinks at the hotel bar and when I did the bartender would look annoyed or roll his eyes. They also never had basic ingredients such as mint to make a mojito or lemons. The staff was nasty, not welcoming, and unorganized. The staff served drinks in a plastic cup that looked like you got it from the gas station. Even though its an all inclusive they don't give you any water bottles at the pool, beach area, the bar, or while your at dinner. Ridicolous. They have a cafe inside that has water bottles but closes at 7pm. The rooms were fine. The bathroom was nice but the shower was so poorly designed with an open door that every time I showered no matter how I pointed the shower head the entire bathroom floor would be soaked and had to put all the remaining towels we had left to clean it up. The phone did not work in our room and had to go to the lobby to request more towels. The beds were very uncomfortable and did not have a good night sleep. The AC was also not strong in the room despite putting it on the lowest setting. Every staff member had an attitude no one was friendly or welcoming it did not feel like vacation when I was there. The entire hotel is low quality- it felt like a glamorized motel. The hotel lobby bathrooms which we used to quickly get ready when we checked in since the room was not ready was disgusting- smelt like sewage and mold. Did not use the pool the entire stay. The kids pool was big but yet again, dirty. The "adult" section of the pool was the size of a big hot tub. For a hotel with 9 floors there should be a bigger pool. It smelt bad and yet again was not clean. The beach was nice to watch the planes land if your into that. The other side of the island has beautiful much nicer beaches with clearer water. Also keep in mind the beach is a public beach and anyone from the island can go there, it is not quiet nor relaxing if that's what you are looking for. Despite being an all inclusive there is no bars on the beach if you want a drink you have to leave the bar go up to the pool area and order a drink. The only nice part of the hotel was there was a sitting area with chairs that over looked the beach it had a nice view without being directly on the water, that's where I spent my time. Overall had a great time on the trip at the beach clubs and other restaurants and bars on the island. We were glad to keep busy so we were not spending time at this dump of a hotel!! Do not book this hotel unless you like low quality food and terrible drinks.
Relaxation!! NOPE not here .

Disappointing Hospitality and Misleading Amenities We arrived early, hoping to enjoy the beach and pool while waiting for our room to be ready. Unfortunately, our first impression was underwhelming. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, but the lobby restroom was not very clean. Customer service has been disappointing so far—I'd rate it 2 out of 5. The staff has been polite but not particularly accommodating or hospitable. At around 11:30 a.m., the main pool was already overcrowded and extremely noisy, so we decided to head to the beach instead. The ocean views are stunning and easily 5 out of 5, especially watching the planes land and take off nearby. However, the beach itself is rough with limited calm swimming areas, so I'd rate it 2 out of 5. One of the biggest disappointments is what feels like false advertising regarding the property's amenities. The resort promotes an adults-only pool, but access is restricted to guests staying on the top two floors. This important limitation is not made clear when booking, making it feel misleading. Trying to discuss our concerns with management was equally frustrating. Rather than listening or offering any flexibility, it felt like talking to a wall. There was no willingness to compromise or provide alternative solutions, leaving us feeling like valued guest service is not a priority. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation, this may not be the resort for you. Between the crowded, noisy pool area, restricted amenities, and lack of hospitality, the experience has been disappointing. We're only on day one of a six-day stay, so I'm hoping the remainder of the trip improves. At this point, however, the resort has not lived up to the expectations set by its advertising.
