Great place to stay just outside of downtown

We like the Sheraton because of the location, staff, pool, and nachos. Good: poolside nachos, comfortable beds, great pool, nice staff, great coffee at coffee bar, wide variety of food at the breakfast buffet, decent fitness center, exchange dollars for pesos at a decent rate Okay: it is a 15-20+ minute walk to the downtown restaurants or a short Uber or cab ride (we don't mind this at all, but good to know before you book); the food is just okay (recommend eating dinner at one of the great downtown places) - wasn't a huge fan of the Italian restaurant for dinner or the pizzas Bad: charge you extra for tennis court reservations, which I couldn't believe; needing to wear a wrist band when you didn't get the all inclusive package; a sign that says they will clear towels on chairs not used, but yet they don't enforce it (get down there early or you won't get a good seat); you can hear a lot of noise from your room so bring a noise maker or have an app on your phone And the weird - they need actual door/wall for the shower/toilet area. When you share a room with your brother and the glass may not be see through but you can definitely see more than you want too, it makes for a few awkward moments.

I’ve stayed at the Sheraton both for business and personal many times over the last 6 years and every time I go, the staff has been amazing. To name a few...Jesus (Chuy) the head bellman and ALL of his guys go above and beyond with luggage, transportation requests, and much, much more! Oscar and the front desk staff and group check in staff, handle all needs with urgency and always with a smile. LuLu is the best concierge and offers the best suggestions for meals off site. Valencio always greats you with a hug and a smile. And to the best group coordinators around, Luis, Sandra, Noelli, and Gaby. There are a ton of others that will make your stay amazing. Make sure to order the steak tacos, and bacon burger with fries by the pool. ¡Saludos! Until next time.

La Vilitta restaurant staff was very attentive and personable. Our favorites were Orlando, Jesus and Ignacio. Sometimes service in a buffet setting can be lacking. Not here. Everyone was always making sure we had everything we wanted.

The hotel looks very very tired (paintwork, poolside loungers) and is more of a business hotel or wedding venue than for holidaymakers. 2 of the restaurants listed dont seen to exist and the Concierge didnt know about them - the Sea Beach area and Pescador restaurant. its very hard to know which drinks are in the all inclusive package - and even with a wristband why ask for room numbers all the time? The Gaviotos restaurant was excellent. The Gastro Bar Embarcadero was awful totallt lacking any atmosphere

Average at best - very poor reception staff and duty managers.

We certainly wanted to enjoy this resort especially as it is sold through a number of Expedia partners as ‘Club Sheraton - adults only’. However after an hour at reception we gave up and accepted that it was not adults only hotel and there were indeed not even adults only areas. So that clearly set us out on the back foot. However the hotel is quite tired and in urgent need of some love and attention. There are some very nice and helpful staff, however the team on reception (especially including Daniel) seem preoccupied at best but often gave incorrect info rather than admitting to not knowing an answer. Alfresco restaurant during the day also suffers badly and feels like a poorly run fast food place with no staff, slow service and tables and floors left unclean. (Worth noting in the evening it is very different and well run with attentive staff). The temperature of the hot food in the buffet also needs attention as this is warm at best. There are various sign around the hotel announcing the hotel is completely cash free however there were many people paying in cash in alfresco restaurant amongst others so that policy is certainly flexible for some people. Another thing to remember is to bring is an alarm clock - set it for 6am to grab a sun lounger by the pool as by 6:30am 90% have towels reserving them with the owners not appearing until lunch (the strict policy of no reserving is something that clearly has been set but never enforced). We did note that in a previous review Vanessi had been flagged as a great employee however we found the opposite to be true. Altogether this was a largely disappointing visit, but perhaps this is indicative of the resort area and the need for more investment, the hotel certainly fulfils the basic needs and there are only a few things that absolutely need to be addressed, other than that this is a fine place to stay - just do not expect to be wowed during your stay.
