This is a nice destination to visit for vacation, but please never buy into the Occidental/Allegro Vacation Club because it's a SCAM. We were distraught after paying about $15,000 dollars into the club membership and have not able to use any benefits from this vacation club membership. We wanted to get out of the membership/contract, but we were told to pay more to the maintenance fee that we have never use the club membership since we purchased this membership in 2010. Please avoid the timeshare people at the club because they will entice you into false promises into buying the club membership. I wish that someone would have told me about this sooner. I hope it's not too late for others to read this and to cancel their Vacation Club membership if they have signed up for it already. You have 5 days to rescind your contract. PLEASE AVOID BUYING THE CLUB MEMBERSHIP AT THIS PLACE BECAUSE IT'S A SCAM!!!!! -A very unhappy Club Member- Tina Ng.

Nice Place, Nice Beach, OK Food, Bad Service For the most part...

Staying here was very inconsistent. The places is nice and the beach is nice. Food is ok. The customer service was the worst....with a few exceptions. The front desk is extremely disorganized and it sets a bad tone for the entire stay. If you have a group of more than two, good luck trying to make a reservation for a dinner. The most annoying thing was that all the restaurants has lots of space and they still wouldn’t book groups. After spending a lot of time going back and forth from the front desk without any resolutions. We encountered Carlos. Carlos works at the front desk and without his help translating our request and overall amazing customer service he managed to turn our vacation around. From getting our family in the same unit and fold away bed for the kids, to getting our family of 7 a reservation at a reasonable time to accommodate the kids at each of the restaurants. Another person that is worth mentioning is Raymundo Medina from the grill restaurant. He makes an amazing Mayan coffee and provided excellent customer service. He invited our family back without a reservation to dine at the grill and make us an off menu item. He also invited us back a second time for Mayan coffees. Single handedly Carlos and Raymundo turned our vacation around. Without these two individuals this vacations would have been not so good.

Thank you to all of the staff in Occidental Cozumel. We stayed there during March break of 2020, just before many closures and cancellations due to corona-virus. I'm so happy we went!!! Great location. Resort is small, but still has a lot to do. Very nice path between buildings, so much shadow even in the middle of the day, beautiful trees, flowers. Very clean. Beach is the best in Mexico, no waves, a lot of different fish. You can walk along the beach. But the best part is people working there. Starting from Victoria at the reception, to Edit, Crystal, Carlos in the restaurants, to our housekeeper. Many thanks to all of you!!!

Beautiful resort grounds and nice beach

Very nice beach and friendly staff. We liked all the vegetation around the resort giving it a forest feel. It is a relaxing setting. The food was just fine, nothing too fancy. The pizza bar up top was really good. The rooms are nice enough, but the beds were too hard for my liking. I woke up with a stiff back every morning. The showers are very nice Beware of the promotional breakfast and tour of the club members area. You will end up wasting about 2 hours of your vacation beating around the bush about what the club membership is. It is sort of like a time share they are trying to sell you, but you can use it anywhere, not just their resorts. It isn't cheap either. If that is something you can afford and are interested in, then by all means procede to listen, but we felt robbed of precious vacation time.

This hotel was a nice getaway for a week with more pros than cons. The location is not far from the airport. The grounds of the hotel are very lush and is in a jungle setting, very pleasant walking around. The resort is not too big so walking from one location to another is usually about five minutes. The food was average. We did not go hungry but some days the selection could’ve been better, however on other days it was great. The three restaurants that required reservations obviously had better food quality. The beach is nice however the towel game is very prevalent here and you do not get a good chair unless you’re up by about 7:30 to 8:00 am to put your towel out which is a bit of an annoyance. The cleanliness of the resort was very good. There are areas near the main pool and the patio of the main buffet where garbage has piled up in the jungle and could be cleaned more regularly. The room was nice and spacious. No issues with cleanliness or items being restocked. The adult only pool was great however due to the towel game get up early if you want a couple of loungers here. The local iguanas at this pool were fun to see every day. The staff here are great. Never had any issues the whole week and they were friendly and accommodating. Carlos at the front desk was especially helpful and friendly. We had purchased the Romance package which included a romantic dinner which we had at the Coral restaurant by the beach. The staff made it a very pleasurable evening, Anabel, Carlos, Raymundo and Mayorico, thank you. Getting to town was not hard by taxi. If we were to go back I would bring more pesos as the conversion rate to US is expensive and pesos are excepted everywhere and that will save you money. It’s always better to buy in pesos to save money in Cozumel. There are two ATMs on the resort, one for pesos and one for US dollars so getting the currency if you need it is easy. The drinks were great, never too much of an issue waiting and the entertainment at night was good as well as the night vendors market in the main square. The concierge located to the side of the main desk area was selling excursions cheaper than the Air Canada representative. This was part of a time share presentation which was why the price was cheaper, so if you want to avoid this you will have to pay a little more from the Air Canada representative which was fine for us. The selection of excursions from the Air Canada representative was sufficient for the duration of our stay being seven days. The Air Canada representative Miguel was friendly and helpful. The beach although good it has no coral to see when snorkeling which is an issue on this side of the island due to all the cruise ships unfortunately. When you pass customs there will be a bunch of people waiting just outside in the hall who are not Air Canada representatives but trying to sell rental cars and excursions. They were trying to pressure people a bit and I didn’t like that at all. Get past them and the Air Canada representatives will be waiting for you just outside the terminal. This location was pleasant and recommended If you are wanting to visit Cozumel as we had a great week.
