So me and my husband (in our 20s) was recommended to go to Saint Lucia halcyon beach resort for our honeymoon, by the travel agency! Traveled from UK We wasn’t sure about it as we have never been to Caribbean island before and the reviews were a mixture! ....however, The week we have spent there was amazing! The staff- Well I can’t say much about the staff. They were all just fantastic! So helpful so kind, everyone always said good morning, we have even made couple of friends that spoke and saw us everyday!! I have never traveled to a such a welcoming resort before!! Food- Absolutely amaZing!!! I’m a very picky eater and I mean very picky!! I was really scared that I will not find anything to eat for myself. How wrong was I, every restaurant on the resort had something amazing for me to try! And there was not one thing that I didn’t like! We highly recommend Kelly’s on docks, have the crab cake! It’s worth visiting that country just for that!! Hotel- So just for the hotels appearance and the way rooms look, I wouldn’t give the hotel 5* more like 3*, the rooms are outdated they need renovating, overall the hotel is very quiet to the other sandals resorts in Saint Lucia, we have visited the other once and they were really loud and crowded we didn’t like that! We like nice peace and quiet. The hotels beach- Beautiful! Could have been better they could have made it look more like the other hotels, ex- beach swings, hammocks. Our beach experience was made the best by Rasta Charlie that’s always on the beach selling magnets. Ohh what a wonderful guy!!! So welcoming! Let me tell you the beach does not look like on the pictures! A lot of people said that before and I can confirm it’s true also. Would I go back to Saint Lucia? Definitely Would I stay in halcyon resort again? Hmm, don’t think so. It was a wonderful one time trip! And I will cherish the memories forever! It’s just not a place for a young couple like ourselves! Picture below is the swings on the beach in sandals grande resort!

Marlin from the dive shop was excellent as a hobie cat teacher. Sushi was delicious and the Soy staff was delightful. We loved the swim up pool for lazy floating about. So relaxing, so quiet, so worth the trip!!!

Lovely beautiful low rise complex. Very much enjoyed the flowers, butterflies and birds. Majority of the staff are very friendly and the food is very good. Special thank you to Ridley at the water sports centre for being very patient and helpful when teaching us to sail a hobbie.

It was our first stay at a Sandals resort, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I did know how much I'd spent for a 10 night stay, which was double what I'd spent on any other vacation so far so I was expecting the best of the best. Overall, we had a great time, but it did not quite have the 5 star experience I was expecting - I expected it to be simply spectacular, because that is what I spent! Little things bothered me like: - We had to repeat our departure times over and over and we had a complication that we both had different times which seemed to cause alot of issues. - My wife had nowhere to change / shower after the 11am check out time so had to shower in the gym (her flight was in the evening). - Nickel and diming alot of things like photos for $18 and the added tax for the tourism board which we had to pay on the way out (could this not just be included in the already exorbitant price?). The $50 charge for late check out is a little ridiculous after you've spent $700 a night for rooms. - Lots of solicitation from the spa folks and people on the beach selling tours and souvenirs - I did not expect this and was a little bothered by it. - The champagne is not actually champagne. - The rooms are a little tired and rough round the edges. - There is not much 'party' in the evening for younger folks - most of the entertainment is tailored to the older crowd. - One of our biggest gripes is that the beach is not actually a a white sand beach as in their advertisement photos - its more of a regular sand beach. This felt misleading. Honestly, if the holiday had been 1/2 the price I would have no complaints whatsoever, but when you spent as much as they charge, you expect nothing but perfection, which I acknowledge is hard to deliver. Alot of these issues are minor, but with the price, I had expected more. On the plus side, the food is excellent, most of the staff are really friendly and helpful, there is lots to do, the sharing of the resorts is awesome and most folks staying there are super friendly and there to relax and have a good time. This resort has particularly nice and quiet(er) rooms on the beach rather than the hotel rooms at the Grande. Its nice to stay here and have the nicer rooms (which are cheaper than the grande) and then visit the grande for the food, beach and nightlife. Other random bits of info: - This resort caters and has the older crowd, not many younger folks who are at the Grande. - The 1 1/2 hour ride is long, but the bus service is good (bring car sickness meds if your susceptible because its a hell of a windy road). - If you can afford it, you can pay for a helicopter for $175ish which takes 10 mins!! - The bus times between the resorts is only every 2 hours, so you need to be careful you don't miss it. - The wet and wild tour is the one to do - the punch is MEGA strong - you've been warned. - There are a ton of cats everywhere. If you are allergic, this could be a problem. - Getting cash is really difficult and not available at the hotel - bring cash with you (for a taxi for example). - Hit up the street party, we missed it and heard it was really fun. - La Toc is apparently the best restaurant (we also missed this). Overall, a great time was had, but its a steep price which if it were not for our honeymoon fund, we probably won't pay for out of our own pocket. Apparently the Sandals in Jamaica are more affordable for similar standards. Hope this helps!
