This resort was okay, the beach was amazing! The buffet was not the best, we recommend the al a carte restaurants specifically the teppanyaki and Italian!! If you have asthma request a bottom floor!!! The straw ceilings create a lot of musty mildew smells. Plus if it rains your room gets very damp! We recommend renting a car and travelling around the island yourself!

We just came back from our annual friends fall trip. We had a great week! We have been all over and post this review with a good perspective. The great - the staff!!! All so friendly and helpfu! The liquor selection and drinks were great. The beach! No sargasam and the beach and water was lovely! The food was fine, but the buffet was hot (the food not always). We did the Mexican and Japanese a la carte and they were great! The rooms were fine but noisy. Beds were hard but comfy. The grounds were stunning and so well maintained! We would definitely go back. We did a deep sea fishing charter and caught mahi mahi and barracuda - a fantastic day! I also recommend touring the island we just hired a cab (not the excursion) for $20 usd for 7 of us and went to Rasta's and Liquor Box - highly recommend. All in all we would say Allegro was a top 5 for our group who have travelled for 13 years.

    Junk food in Paradise

Grounds are very nice, first club great. Bartenders excellent. As usual the working poeple that care for you are great! The food is disgusting. Mostly fried and old or tasteless. Only 1 specialty restaurant open per day. Owner or not, you will not get anything other than the awful buffet. If Paradise is shriveled up old hotdogs or starchy cold frys this is heaven. You would think that if you spend many 10s of thousands with this resort the food might be better.

Was all excited to spend a week scuba diving in Cozumel. Went down with the local dive shop and was staying Saturday to Saturday. There was a proximately 20 of us in the group. When we arrived nothing was ready for us. It was as if they didn’t know we were coming. No rooms prepared, nothing. Two hours later we all finally got to our rooms. Some had the correct rooms while others did not (Meaning there were 2 people (non-couple) in room but single bed). As you’ll see from my pictures, the rooms are a disaster. Several of us had leaking roofs and others had bugs. I myself had almost zero water pressure and limited to no hot water. I also would have this random puddle next to my bed every other night rain or shine. There was no water trail to show me where it was coming from and I am on the second floor so I only assume it was from the roof. Property management did not seem surprised when I told them and simply sent a house cleaner who literally squeegeed the water out the door and threw down a towel. The puddle would keep reappearing but now they would only put down a thatched mat to try and hide it. The face plate on my door was broken and would not allow the door to close or lock when shut. When they finally got around to looking at it they simply put another screw in the face plate hole without looking to see that it was all rotted out and did not attach to anything. They also put two screws on either side to keep it from rocking. I would end up yp having to push up the face plate every day in order to get the door to close properly. I had run out of patience with the place and couldn’t be bothered calling maintenance anymore. The daily housekeeping consisted of throwing the sheets back on the bed and leaving my dirty towels on the floor even though the placard said if you would like new towels please place them on the floor. No new towels just a pile of dirty ones were left. The food in the dining areas was actually not all that bad. They do make an excellent chicken and fish. The weird thing was I wanted to take one of their nasty burgers with me as I was late for a dive but they would not let me take it outside of the dining hall. The scuba diving clubhouse where I was provided a continental breakfast was usually out of most of the food and the coffee machine was constantly leaking everywhere with no one to clean it up. You can also forget about Internet while you are there. They say they have free Wi-Fi but it is only available in the main lobby and is sporadic at that. If you want it elsewhere, it’s about 35 USD per day and limited to two devices. I will submit an additional review regarding the dive shop, pro divers, separately but they are equally as much of a disaster. I would recommend looking up the street at the Iberostar which is far nicer, has a way better dive shop (Dressel Diver’s), and appears to be the same price if not cheaper. The staff, mostly the dining staff, are the only saving grace for this establishment. They were incredibly gracious and professional. The giant bag of ice in the pictures is from when I went to one of the bars and asked for a small bag of ice. He pulled it right out of the ice bin and was clearly a language barrier issue. My point of including this is to show that even with the language barrier, the wait staff did their best to accommodate. Maybe even over accommodate a little The giant bag of ice in the pictures is from when I went to one of the bars and asked for a small bag of ice. We decided to have a small weekend escape in Allegro, that we actually tried to book already 2 years ago but due to some renovation we were sent to Occidental. So now, second try! Overall our stay was good because we will have fun whenever we are, but there were also some bad things... First of all the room was not so clean, lots of dust and the floor was dirty. The roof leaked when it rained and the mini fridge was not cool enough for the drinks. Also the A/C and the music in the restaurant next to us was really lousy so uf you are a light sleeper, get some earplugs. However great location right next to the beach and the beach itself very beautiful and you can enjoy amazing sunsets every night. Big plus for 3 different swimming pools however they were all the time full of small children screaming and playing, even the "relaxation pool" that I though was just for relaxation you know. Also the jacuzzi that was supposed to be only for guests over 18 was always full of children screaming and jumping. This is a family resort yes, but still, the children should be playing in the areas that were meant to them. The food was average. Not bad not great. A huge disappointment was that as we stayed only 2 nights, we were not able to book any of the special restaurants, so only buffet for 3 days. They should really advise this beforehand as we were really excited to try other food also. They only guarantee special restaurant reservations for people staying over 3 nights and even though we stayed in Allegro during the low season, we were not able to book any of the restaurants. So, if you stay 1-3 nights, do not expect anything else than buffet food. Some of the food was served again in the next day buffet, great for the environment but at the same time... We are not going to a all-inclusive hotel to eat leftovers? Well at least they should have served it warm, not cold. Excellent staff however. They were always nice and welcoming even when they were really busy. Efficient and fast service. There are also lots of activities to do all day long so you won't be bored. Additionally they let you stay in the hotel after check-out which was a positive surprise. Relaxing weekend but unfortunately will not be back in this hotel.
