We largely picked this resort because of Trip Advisor reviews which made the resort seem awesome. Unfortunately it does NOT deserve the rating that it currently enjoys. It's awesome to have the electricity go out multiple times a day...every day. Bonus points for having it go out while you're using the bathroom. It's awesome to pay for All-inclusive and still have to pay a $10 "delivery fee" for any room service. The coffee grounds in the coffee was an especially nice touch. It's awesome to have no air conditioner, and even better to have the ceiling leak after it's been fixed. It's awesome to have to use your chain lock on your door because the actual lock doesn't work. Even better when you take video of it, show to the front desk, and they can't help because maintenance person is not available. #FeelingSafe It's incredibly awesome entertainment to watch your daughter freak out at a cockroach in the room. Note to future customers: don't stay on the first floor. It's awesome to slip coming out of the shower because water can't stay in the tub with the half panel of glass that they MacGyvered. It's like ice skating but not nearly as much fun. It's awesome to do your mandatory Covid test and have them send you someone else's test results. (FYI - Brandon, wherever you are, your test is negative) We only had to wait 45 minutes in line at the front desk to get our actual results so we can re-enter the U.S.tomorrow. Yeah!! Wondering who they sent ours to in the first place... No HIPAA laws in Mexico. That's a lot of awesome to pack into one trip. Thanks Grand Palladium!! We've been all over Mexico and the Caribbean. This resort is easily one of the lowest quality resorts that we've ever seen. Seriously folks - our experience was that poor. It actually became comical as to what would happen next. The rooms (at least ours) are very out of date and need significant updates. The beach is not great - so many rocks. Comparing this beach to those at Secrets Maroma, Valentin, and Moon Palace (3 resorts we've been at in this area) is like comparing a Ford Escort to a new Tesla - no comparison. Some positives though - The pools are great. Clean, huge, and warm. The resort is large, but it's laid out well. Follow the paths and they have lighted maps strategically placed. Some of the staff were absolutely fantastic, and my hope is that the ones who didn't measure up will learn by example from the seasoned staff. Of particular note, we found Danielo to be great and very helpful. The buffet options are plentiful. The restaurants requiring reservations leave a lot to be desired though - service is actually better at the buffet. I wish I was kidding. I don't know if the service and our experience was this bad because Covid has kept them at reduced capacity, but we'll never stay here again to find out.

I should have known this place would not be to my standards when it took me over 2 weeks of trying to get ahold of these people just to get my All-Inclusive fees paid. I mean, really? Someone isn’t even answering there to take my money?!?! Upon arrival, we are told to check in at White Sands. Come to find out, Kantenah isn’t even open. And it is trashed (we walked around it when we went to the sports bar that is still open over there). Many of the walkways are caution taped off and there was busted out glass where they had plywood up. We ended up being put in White Sands, not Kanteenah. Not only that, but I had reserved a room with 2 beds because the trip was myself and another female friend, we are not a couple, but they put us in a room with one bed!! Seriously? We are not hard to please, but this place showed its true colors from the beginning. They called relentlessly trying to get us to do the tour and even left notes and text continuously on WhatsApp, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the stay. The fridge was “free” but we told them we do not drink Coors and soda, please just stock with Dos Equis and water. They threatened to charge extra, although we weren’t asking for extra anything. They didn’t even stock it at all one of the days even though I text them and they said they would send someone. Housekeepoing was nothing special, most places I have stayed, they do things like fold towels in animal shapes or tie curtains or something… I don’t expect that, but I would not over tip (I’m a huge tipper) if there is nothing special done. There were minimal choices for eats or drinks. On Sunday, there was only one restaurant open, Portofino, the Italian. We had 8 pm reservations. When we showed up they asked if we wanted to sit in or outside. It was a nice night so we chose to sit outside. UNTIL THERE WAS A RACCOON SCROUNGING ON THE TABLE NEXT TO US!! The other people on the patio were feeding it, making it believe it was ok to be there. Those animals are very dirty and if we are so concerned with Covid, we should definitely be concerned with whatever diseases those animals carry. Anyway, we asked to be moved inside and they acted like it was our fault and a huge issue to move in. Other restaurant issues that stood out were at the Japanese steakhouse and Ribs & More. At the Japanese steakhouse, there are no choice in menu besides the meat you choose if you sit at teppanyaki. ran out of space for review. Imelda in sports bar AWESOME!

    False advertising and deception

I know we're in the middle of a pandemic, and I was prepared for this to be a very different all-inclusive stay. What I wasn't prepared for was the false advertising, that seemed to come from the corporate level. The only reason we booked this hotel was because we were promised a $1500 resort credit at the time of booking. The only conditions mentioned online were that services would have to be charged to the room. We thought we would treat ourselves to some massages. Upon arrival the credit turned out to be no more than a coupon book with limited use and many restrictions. ie. $50 off a $250 massage. (You can get one on the beach for $40)! I made a note at booking that we were celebrating our anniversary. No effort was made to make it a special experience. The room itself was clean, however the mattress was very uncomfortable. It sagged in the middle and you could feel every spring. The shower didn't drain properly and there was a constant puddle of water. The mini-fridge wasn't even plugged in when we arrived. At the time of booking we were also promised a bottle of liquor and fruit basket. Neither of those were in the room. I brought this to the attention of the front desk, and they sent a sad little plate with a few apples and a handful of grapes. In terms of restaurants, only one or two a-la-cartes were open each night, so choice was a bit limited: La Dalia (buffet) was open for breakfast and dinner. Most items were prepared on the spot since there was such a low capacity. Flavours, variety and service were great. La Adelita: Cold soup, soggy tortillas, bland, worst mexican food I've ever tried to eat. Portofino: Waiters overworked, VERY SLOW service. We spent more than three hours for three dishes that were very bland. Sumptuori: Waiters again very overworked, VERY SLOW service. I don't understand why they can't hire more staff? The sushi chef was very friendly and was quick with sushi orders. Poseidon: Beautiful location on the beach, very well prepared dishes. Staff: all very friendly but very overworked. They need to be paid more!!! The Palladium hotel family is worth BILLIONS. Pay your staff! Final note: The hotel creates an image of being Green/Sustainble yet water is only available by bottle. Meanwhile the beach is completely polluted with plastic bottles and bottle caps. The beach area immediately in front of the hotel is cleaned every day. As soon as you head north and off the hotel beach, it is overridden with plastic pollution. Need water dispensers and reusable bottles!

We just came back from Grand Palladium Rivera Maya resort on 12/27/2020 and we had such a great time. Our original stay was from 12/18/2020 to 12/25/2020. We love the place and GP staff so much that we decided to stay for extra 2 days. The resort is stunning and it has one of the most beautiful beach I have even seen. There are a lot to do, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayak and catamaran etc. The food is amazing. You should definitely try the Christmas Eve Buffet. It is just unbelievable great! We actually just book another week to spend 2021 Christmas Eve there as well. We go to this resort at least once or twice every year as Travel Club member and we are always happy with our stays and sad to leave. I would say that I'm a picky traveller. I love my room clean and updated, things well taken care of and staff responsive. I have never been disappointed. The staff and managers work really really hard to take care of the guests. The Managers, Santiago and Viridiana, are always very friendly, gave us great advice, treated us with care and make sure our needs are met. Great appreciation to Ulises who took care of our reservation, to Archie who took care of all of our itineraries and reservations, to Mario who took care of our transportation, to Victor and Ernesto from Travel Club at the beach who took great care of us and our drinks :) and to all of GP employees for your hard work. You made our vacation great! Thank you! :)

Too much reef bottom in the sea at this location, bring water shoes. If you dine at the Ribs restaurant don't expect a rib. You will receive the thinnest slice of beef, shaved bone attached. Disgusting and not properly cooked for rib meat. For RCI, don't expect any perks. The travel club is a joke here. Some staff were unfriendly, some very, very happy and friendly. This is a large, spread out resort. Vehicles everywhere on the pathways, it gets annoying ??
