My boyfriend and I went here in November of 2019. It was the best experience besides having to wait an hour to check in. The staff was always kind and welcoming. The food was very good, clean place. The gentlemen driving the golf cart would pick us up first before other guests ( we tipped good ) we saw him everyday. The night club had a bad smell and the resort was a far drive from the airport so make sure you stay for a week. We were thinking about doing the timeshare since they have these in a few other countries. We will definitely be coming back later this year.

Well I’m not going to write a marathon but just straight to the point. Absolutely loved this place, loved being in middle of the jungle and visiting Xel-ha.the rooms were clean and spacious and the food what a choice if you couldn’t find anything to eat you must be very very fussy and last thing loved the people they couldn’t do enough for you. We’re coming back in November this year (if the world’s back to normal)and can’t wait

Another visit, this time with family!

We have been to this particular Bahia Principe hotel multiple times since 2005 along with other vacations at many other Bahia Principe hotels but for us the Mexican resort is our all time favorite and we consider it “our Mexican home away from home”. Some staff we have known for 15 years and it’s always great to spend time with them. Due to our brand loyalty for 15 years we are issued the VIP bracelet which allows us to go to all the hotels on the resort. (Note: guests who booked either Luxury Akumal or Luxury Sian Ka’an also have full access to all 4 hotels on the resort. Guests who book either Coba or Tulum only have access to each other’s hotel.) My 2 tips for a first time guest are: to keep the resort map with you until you get the lay of the land, and if you have a reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants over at the Tulum hotel give yourself 20 minutes to get there are trams are far busier and often full so you may have to wait for another tram. We find the staff to truly have the best work ethic, and if you do have a problem they will often go the extra mile to help you out. We also feel the location which is close to many attractions is convenient even though it is 90 minutes from the airport. We often visit nearby places of interest on our own using a collectivo for our transportation which allows us to do things on “our own choice of time” rather than having to be on a tour company’s schedule. Also by using a collectivo it is always a less expensive outing which is an added bonus. (We did use the hotel’s own tour company a few times in the past for excursions further away from the hotel which is called Bahia Tours. They are often slightly less expensive than what a Canadian tour company charges.) One would think that it would be easy to run out of things to mention in a review for the same hotel after 15 years but in this case that is not true. The biggest change is now everyone has free wifi throughout the hotel/resort. (In the past many guests had complained in their reviews about having to pay extra at an all inclusive resort IF the one hour of free wifi the hotel was offering wasn’t enough access for them. Free wifi for ALL is a very welcomed change.) Bahia Principe hotels are always trying out new things and yes they do pay attention to feedback. They no longer do a Michael Jackson evening show in the theater and they have introduced other new nightly shows. On our most recent trip we got to check out the Sports Bar conveniently located off the main lobby which opened last year. You can also enter by the outside door off the outdoor terrace. Last year they put out all new tables and chairs with a hurricane lantern in the outdoor terrace area. We got to check out the completely renovated Coba buffet. They now have an outdoor set up for lunch near the main swim up bar. They are constantly working on the landscape and maintenance. In the past few years they gave some of the a la carte restaurants new decor and they did a soft renovation on the rooms. New hair dryer, replaced bathroom mirror, installed rain shower heads, and a new shower sprayer, changed the plastic outdoor furniture, new bedding, towels, robes & drapes, mounted the television on the wall and moved a large mirror are changes I can recall. For those who don’t want to leave the resort but looking for something new to do check out the hotel’s Eco-tours. (We did the eco walk last fall for $5.00US per person. Note: make sure to wear bug repellent as you are walking in the jungle so naturally it’s buggy. I wore a man’s long sleeve shirt and thin cotton pants while my husband wore shorts and a tee shirt.) Any time we have had an issue either housekeeping guest service, guest service manager, or the assistant director have helped us out. Problem was always fixed! (We travelled on this trip with family and they had to have their room sprayed as our son-in-law was being bitten while in the room, yet his wife and baby were fine!) Our 2 suggestions at this time for the hotel is to invest in a better sound system for the theatre, and to replace the old safes in the rooms that operate with a key with a keypad safe. As past reviewers from time to time have mentioned money being taken from their safe. We very thankfully have never had a theft issue but clearly it’s time for the hotel to invest more in their guests security based on the number of complaints. A big thank you to all the staff for always making our Bahia vacations so enjoyable. Hasta luego.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2019 for a one-week vacation and it was great. Our villa was close to the central pools and the surroundings were beautiful. The staff was always very cheerful and nice. Food was very good. You have the advantage of being able to go to the Tulum hotel nearby, so we tried their buffet a few times also. As for the a la carte restaurants, we tried three (a gourmet, a Mexican and some other I don’t remember) and liked the food and service in all of them. The fajitas of the Mexican restaurant were very good! Tip: Install their app and book the restaurants directly for the available times, so you don’t have to go to reception to do it. As many have said, you need a “golf cart” ride to get to the beach but they were always passing by so, for us it wasn’t a problem. The beach of the hotel has a net in the middle of the sea for the seaweed, which makes it a little bit less attractive but we got around the area a little bit and found some pretty places. We didn't saw much seaweed on the water and the hotel staff was constantly cleaning. Tip 2: If you want to go visit Tulum or Playa del Carmen, you can catch the coletivos right outside the hotel, which is a very cheap way to get around. Summing up, it was a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

We travelled to the mayan for a 2 week beach vacation. I had been to this resort twice before, but it was a first time for my husband. We both had a great vacation and enjoyed a couple of excusions to Xel'ha and Chichen itza. We both found the service exceptional from all of the resort staff. Some that stood out were Zacharias and Maria at the Coba buffet, always cheerful and going above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable stay, and Ofelia in the coba lobby bar for after dinner cocktails! One thing that was a bit disappointing was the change from my last visit of not being able to use the Akumal resort unless you were booked there or VIP, in the past, it was a short walk from Coba to the beach at akumal, but now you have to take the trolley to the beach at Tulum.
