Xcaret hotel is an amazing resort filled with beautiful scenery and very nice rooms but what puts it over the top is the service. There were 2 people that made our stay a memorable experience that will live in our hearts and our minds for the rest of our lives. I was planning a very special evening for my girlfriend and I. I asked Adriana Garrido and Montse Hurtado our concierges during our stay if they could help me make this an evening we would never forget. They went above and beyond and the evening could not have been any better. We had a very romantic dinner for just the 2 of us on the beach. It was absolutely beautiful with Filet Mignon and Lobster and a nice bottle of champagne. It was the perfect setting for the special moment I was planning. My girlfriend is now my fiance. When we returned to our room we found that they had decorated it for us and wrote love on the table with rose petals, poured a bubble bath in the Jacuzzi tub with a heart made of rose petals floating on the bubbles. They also had another bottle of champagne there for us. It was simply amazing. I will always be grateful to these 2 young ladies for all that they did to make such a perfect evening for us. Thank you Adriana Garrido and Montse Hurtado, with all of my heart. That is not all that they did for my future wife and I during our week long stay. They made sure that every want or need that we had was addressed immediately. From making scheduling arrangements for any activities we wanted to do, making reservations for us at restaurants, something for the room. It didn't matter, they were eager to help with anything. Thank you so much ladies. You are simply amazing!!

Even with COVID precautions going on, this place was Amazing. The staff, the property, the parks and everything was top notch. Be sure that the day you arrive, you go ahead and make any reservations for the few restaurants that require this as well as the shuttle to Xel-Ha. Even if you dont go to the any of the restaurants that require reservations, there is plenty to choose from. They have a few buffets as well as a vegetarian option and juice bar. Transportation to and from the parks is easy (shuttle every 20 min or so) . Each park is a different type of fun with so many activities, you wont be able to do them all. They offer a picture package so that you can take photos throughout hotel property and all parks if you choose. This keeps you from having to carry your camera everywhere. Especially with so many water activities, this option was a lifesaver and we got amazing pics from it that we would not have taken on our own. If the COVID testing is still going on to re-enter the US, the hotel makes it very easy. You make a appt when you check in and it only takes about 10 min from your day and you get results within hour or so. This turned out to be the best place we have visited so far and will definitely return next year!

We loved every minute of our stay, 2/27 to 3/4, an anniversary getaway in an ocean view room facing the sunrise! We took advantage of all the resort offerings: wonderful snorkeling off the beach (note-bring your own snorkel gear!), as well as fun kayak and paddleboards for short excursions around the riverfront islands. We loved exploring the seldom-used back islands and workout trail, complete with water slides and creepy caves to explore. The bikes made for a quick ride over to Xcaret and I wish we had taken the boat trip over as well. Without exception, service is exceptional, especially the servers at the beach. We told the resort we were celebrating our anniversary and we were surprised twice - once with wine and once with balloons and champagne and strawberries. The food was so good and varied, we especially loved the ceviche bar at Trajeneras, fun vibe and tapas at Las Playas, breakfast and desserts at Mercado, and the anytime street tacos. Having the made-to-order quesadillas was a dream. Covid protocols were consistent and very good, testing for return to the US was efficient and easy. Zero complaints, no regrets, and two comments for improvement: additional options for after-dinner nightlife would be welcomed, and stop the push to attend the time share pitch - we know how to find you if we change our minds. Wonderful, wonderful trip.

Hidden Gem!! What a beautiful restaurant and the service matches the excellent food. Mauricio our server was very knowledgeable about all the foods. The banana pancakes and the avocado tostada sounds so simple but however they make it it tastes like nothing I’ve tasted before. The setting of the restaurant is so Zen nestled inside some caves at the hotel is amazing. It will change the way you think about vegan food. Yummy.

Overrall it was a great visit but there were some things that didn't sit right with me and maybe others can overlook it so I'll explain a little. I'll start with the good so, if you're looking for anything NEGATIVE you can scroll toward the bottom. The grounds are beautiful and the staff were phenomenal. Top notch. Room was very clean, nice, spacious, and were what I would expect. This was a sort of delayed honeymoon for my wife and I and it lived up to all of the expectations that we had. Pools were nice, the saltwater rivers looked nice although we never went and actually checked them out. Bars were all good with perfectly bi-lingual bartenders. Same with the concierge and wait staff in the restaurants. The beach you should be aware (as I saw mentioned prior to our trip) is not exactly a beach. There is a small area of sand with a bit of a rocky waterfront so if you're expecting vast white sand beaches, this isn't the place. There were a limited number of lounge chairs overlooking the lapping water on the rocks but not a sunbather's paradise (to my happiness with my pasty white Irish skin yet to my wife's dismay with her glowing Mexican tan skin) COVID protocols were good. Masks everywhere except restaurants and pools. Generous hand sanitzer, and temperature checks. The resort felt empty so I'm not sure if they were limiting bookings. I never felt crowded and I was into social distancing before it was a thing. Now.... that's not to say that we may not have returned home with COVID from the resort. Xcaret was a side trip from visiting my wife's family in Guadalajara. We were there a few days before, in Xcaret for 4 days, and returned to Guadalajara for another ~4 days before returning home to the States and testing positive here. So it could have been at Xcaret, Guadalajara, the airport or plane, or anywhere in between. So it's an all-inclusive resort but..... not really. On their website and in any online social media or other kind of marketting, they tout their world-renowned restaurant curated by Michelin star winning chef Carlos Gaytan. My (Mexican) wife was SOOOO excited to go eat there. At check-in we inquired with the concierge and were told sure, you can make a reservation there. For $150US per person extra. I couldn't disappoint my wife so I forked over the extra $300US on top of the $900ish US per night we were already paying. My wife and I wanted to check out Tulum so we did an excursion that was Tulum and Xel'Ha their waterpark. We toured the ruins at Tulum first thing and were told to be back to the bus by a certain time and we really felt rushed and wanted to spend more time. We went on to Xel'Ha and it felt like we were being nickle-and-dimed again at an all-inclusive resort. I get it's a side-property and other outsiders are there as well but they promote it as "you can visit our other properties and it's included" Well, getting there and getting in is included. You want to do this? More money. Want to do that? More money. We did the adrenalina boat and it was an experience. I'm all for adventure but it was a bit crazy getting a wall of water smashed in my face feeling like it wanted to rip my head off. On the boat there were no masks and we were packed in so that felt a bit risky. Another side park is Xoximilco which is like a dinner party on boats in a canal similar to in Mexico City from what I'm told. Lots of drinking and partying. But, again, on the bus on the way there, we were greeted with "you can drink cheap alcohol for free but if you want something that won't make you vomit with it's quality, that's an extra $60US per person" It was a good time but that added cost was sitting back there in the back of my mind. They also had photo spots throughout the hotel and outside parks. Through RFID (I guess) you scan your bracelet and a camera takes your picture. It was nice but, you guessed it, more money. Something else that rubbed me the wrong way was when we arrived around 5PM, we were shuttled to a "personal concierge" to explain all of the restaurants, the resort, beach, excursions, etc, etc and to try to sell you on sitting through a timeshare seminar. Well, we were a bit late landing because there must have been a problem with our plane as we circled and they said there was an issue in the airport. Anyway, the transportation that Xcaret provided knew we were on the plane and knew that it was my wife and I arriving to the resort at 5PM because they took copies of our passports and credit card on the bus. Anyway, we were pushed off to this concierge for the better part of an hour before we got to the front desk around 6:30PM to check in. The guy at the front desk told my wife that because we were late, our room was no longer available but he'd like to offer us what turned out to be a lesser room at a higher price. Bait and switch at it's best. Now, all of this being said, we certainly could have said no to any of the upgrades we purchased. But.... we were sold an all-inclusive experience and felt like it kind of fell short with a bit more money burned through our pockets. Will we go back? Probably but we will have eyes wide open
