We stayed here late last year and it was the worst holiday I have ever Had. Our original booking was with Thomas Cook for a fabulous resort, but we decided to book a holiday here rather than lose out on a holiday at that time completely. We wished we'd saved the money! Dated and dangerous falling apart room; the light fitting was held on by silicone and was falling off, my partner leaned lightly on the balcony railing and it came away from the wall. When we looked at it, it was held together with only inch long wooden dowling rods. Terrible, leftover, luke warm food. There were some very lovely servers though, they were the only staff that made us feel welcome the entire stay apart from the girl who checked us in. Couldn't get any restaurant reservations so can't comment. Beach has unsightly water breaks, no tropical paradise view there. Couldn't find much to do, the entertainment was awful, repetitive and budget. Rude concierge who was snappy at me when I asked if he could please print an email for me, even accused me of pulling a face at him when I leaned over to look at his screen as he complained he 'couldn't do it'. Was I the first to ever request an email printed? Honestly. At the end of our stay another couple told us about how they were getting miniature spirits in their room, but the whole time we felt like we were begging for enough coffee every day. Multiple days we got back to the room and nothing had been topped up despite leaving great tips. The tipping obviously stopped at that point. The pool actually had thick lines of scum around the edges which we witnessed just being scrubbed off back into the water with a stiff brush. There were cracked tiles around the pool bar and the pool bar bins smelt atrocious. I understand that it's hot but change them and clean them more regularly if you expect guests to have to sit next to them. I was bruised by the masseuse, told by the TUI rep it would be sorted, and yet still charged 200USD on checkout. Rude manager said he had had no complaint and accused me of making it up to get a free massage! We documented all these issues with the TUI rep in resort and yet absolutely nothing was done about any of them. They just didn't care. We left not even wanting to ever return to a Mexico. It's a shame because away from the resort we had a lovely time, but in the resort we couldn't find anything to warrant even 3 stars.

    My experience at Bahia

I have visited Bahia Principe Grand Coba twice and both times my expectations have been exceeded, The staff are attentive and very welcoming and they made our stay very memorable. There was a good variety of food on offer which was all of a high quality, the swim up bar was a favourite experience of mine. The pools were large and there was plenty of space to lounge around if you don’t fancy getting wet. The entertainment was very enjoyable and there were shows throughout the evenings to attend. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient as it was a very short drive to the beach and it is close to many shops. For a reasonable extra cost you have the chance to swim with dolphins which I chose to do and very much enjoyed it as it was an experience I shall never forget. To conclude I highly recommend visiting Bahia Principe Grand Coba as it is an amazing experience for any traveler wether you are an adventure seeker or simply just looking for some rest and relaxation. This hotel is great for all ages and is definitely worth a visit.

The hotel was very clean, rooms cleaned every day, fridge refilled every day. Food was outstanding, plenty of choice at every sitting. All Staff, cleaning, bar, restaurant , gym and garden were helpful, polite and friendly. Very large resort, you can walk to the beach or catch one of the buggy buses that continuously run. We enjoyed the walk. All the pools are clean and well maintained. As for trips we did take the local bus we found it more cost effective, plus we like to leave when we feel like it. We visited the tumul ruins for a small bus fee (can’t remember, about £5.00 for two) and and about 10£ to get in. We did not have a guide, but I would if I go again, they were charging about 20dollars, we also had a lovely half a day on the beach there. The organised trip was about 150 dollars each. So please check to see if you can get there at a better price. Will definitely go to this hotel again

Apologies for the belated review, but better late than never I say. We have visited the Coba resort twice. This is a beautiful property on the Grand Bahia grounds. As mentioned by other travellers, you get access to the Tulum property that overlooks the ocean when you book either resort. We prefer the Coba side. It is more family orientated, there are kids but we were never bothered at all. You don't get access to Siem or Akumal. But that's okay. We never wanted to leave the Coba resort other than the odd excursion you book through your airline representatives on site. Or to walk on the beach, then it's an easy trolly to the Tulum beach. We did go to another comparable resort on the beach last year, just to see how life was at another resort, and though it was nice, we prefer Coba. Of the food options, we enjoyed them all. All of the A la carte options were good, booking early is advisable. Our favourite was the Japanese spot Mikado. We prefer the sit down meal, not the table side show. Service was very exceptional. Our waiter Marcos was very good. The hidden gem is the snack bar. If you are lounging by the pool, this is a very convenient quick bite. The food ranges from burgers and hot dogs, to ribs and paella or stir fry. The Buffet offers a good variety of cuisines. Often a theme per night. No complaints there. Service was friendly, the staff work hard here. Advice #2, bring small bills. You will want to tip great service. Or just really friendly people. They also remembered our wedding. Made us feel good. Appreciate it guys! Can't wait to be back, when the world hopefully returns back to normal.

My boyfriend and I went here in November of 2019. It was the best experience besides having to wait an hour to check in. The staff was always kind and welcoming. The food was very good, clean place. The gentlemen driving the golf cart would pick us up first before other guests ( we tipped good ) we saw him everyday. The night club had a bad smell and the resort was a far drive from the airport so make sure you stay for a week. We were thinking about doing the timeshare since they have these in a few other countries. We will definitely be coming back later this year.
