My partner and I booked a weekend stay at this resort, we were celebrating his birthday and wanted to do something different for the weekend. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! The inhospitable and poor customer service started from the moment we arrived, we brought a cake with us for the celebration and were made to feel as though it was the most ridiculous thing we could have done. Requests to have the cake held for us while we waited for our room....because of course the room was not ready...were met with nothing but negative responses. We finally made it to the room which was to say the least not on par to that of other resorts we have been to. Nonetheless we decided to make the best of the situation. Our next encounter with poor customer service came at lunch when we went to the buffet. We got the impression that being locals was enough for the staff to not treat us with the same level of urgency as they should, we were completely ignored while the server behind the counter who actually gave us the palm of the hand as if to say ‘quiet down’ and proceeded to attend to others before returning to us. For dinner, we tried setting reservations for my partners birthday night, the following night, as we were rudely informed that reservations were full for the evening of our arrival. Strange considering the hotel was for the most part quite empty. Of course when we showed up for dinner the next evening no reservation had been made. Luckily we were able to get in nevertheless. We called earlier to request a knife to cut the cake we had taken with us and were once again met with negative responses. We were told that it was impossible to have that done as they do not take plates or silverware to the room. WHAT????? A KNIFE???? Yet we could place orders for room service, what’s the sense? In addition to the poor service, our safety was also at risk as our room was filled with mosquitoes for the entirety of our stay and we did not even feel comfortable to ask for something to be done based on all the NOs we had been getting from everyone. Not to mention the piece of glass that I stepped on while taking a shower the first night we were there, the rusty jacuzzi tub and lack of consistent hot water to shower with. All in all we were quite disappointed in the service from this resort and strongly feel that if you are not able to provide Quality Service the right way due to the current pandemic situation, then perhaps you should not be open to guests at all. After all, some of your staff doesn’t seem to want to work At all...The only positive we take away from this place is that the food was actually pretty good but everything else was definitely sub par.

    Absolutely Worth it

Beautiful and large resort . We enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone to visit . I dont normally book large resort but the resort is basically empty as we know covid punishing us . The entertainment at the resort was very good and i would say it works great for both adults and kids . The staff was really friendly and nice and seem to be very interested in helping everyone . Things seem secure and everyone is following protocol . A few complaints would be not everything is opened up and some thing close too early . I was not able to book CLub mobay Vip because i waited too long and when i arrived at the airport it did take 2 hrs to get outside next time i will book it earlier . I did book private airport transfers so they were outside waiting for me despite the long wait I highly recommend Top choice Jamaica Tours they are incredible patient and offer world class service . I love great service . I wish i could also stayed longer but due to an emergency my trip was cut short and i had to leave . I will be back in November after the elections who knows what will happen next.

It’s second time we came. The personal are very very friendly. Food good but because of the covid not many options. No more lobster night. The resort was 10% occupied which was nice. The rooms need a little bit to be updated but are clean. We loved here and we really enjoyed.

Everything always good, except for the food

Grand Bahia Principe Getting to Jamaica Local doctors will not prescribe a covid test for non-medical reasons. Walgreens has drive through testing. My wife was tested 10 days prior to arrival per guidelines. The testing sight shut down before I could get there because it was drizzling. They are too cheap to buy a third shelter to put over the customers car window. I got tested the next day. Wifes results arrived 2 days later, mine did not arrive by the 4th day so I called the Lab and had it sent manually. We both filled out the annoying 15 minute application and sent it off. My wife got her permission to arrive one day later, mine came one day later, two days before departure. Arriving in Jamaica along with another flight, the hallway to the customs hall was filled with people. Fortunately, my wife walks with a limp and we were taken to the front of the line. Passengers had to sit at one of 4 tables for 5 minutes answering questions while a worker input the answers into a tablet. It would take hours to clear all those passengers. What a gross display of bureaucratic incompetence. THE RESORT This is a large, well maintained resort. The employees are all very friendly. Off the large open air lobby are three competing gift shops. Prices are reasonable. Currently, guests are housed near the lobby. Occupancy was less than 10% on the weekend and even less during the week. The regulations say that you may not leave the resort, but that is not exactly true. A booking agency at the hotel had authorization to conduct side trips, including the famous horse riding in the surf. The scuba shop offered dives, but they were right off the coast of the resort. FOOD. Breakfast is served in the Buffet and with breads, oatmeal, bacon, and cooked to order eggs, you should be happy. Masks must be worn when moving about the food venues, and approaching the bars. Servers dish out the food and hand you the plate. Servers bring you silverware and drinks. Lunch is served in an open air venue located to the east of the resort. Finding something pleasant to eat here is problematic. They always have hamburgers, which taste strange. They also have chicken patties and hot dogs. There are also Jamaican dishes. I had Barbeque beef that was tough and inedible. I should have had the stew meat concoction. They always have cheese sandwiches and lunch meat. We had dinner two nights in the buffet. I had jerk chicken meat, it was dry. Jerk pork was cubes of pork that was 80% fat. Eventually, I would have figured it out. They have carved-to-order meat (turkey or pork the nights we were there) cooked to order pasta, and cooked to order steaks. Because of low occupancy, they closed down the buffet during the week and sent diners to The Knife venue where the different themed restaurants operated on different nights (also because of low occupancy.) The first night we ate at the actual Don Pablo Gourmet restaurant. I had duck, it was very good. Tue, we ate at Dolche Vita Italian. My lasagna was undercooked, the hamburger bits were tough, and there was not enough cheese or sauce. My wife’s ravioli was stuffed with some mystery substance. Wed night, we ate at the Japanese restaurant. They were out of spring rolls, which were the basis of some of their dishes. We were fortunate to ask about the chef’s special, beef medallions doused in an unfortunate quantity of Teriyaki sauce. It was very good, the best food we had there. POOL and BEACH The pool is a long meandering thing that stretches along the front of the resort. There is a sandy area directly in front of the resort, but the real gem is the large crescent shaped beach to the east of the resort. It slopes gradually to waist deep, is sheltered from waves, and is lined with palapas and beach chairs. It is a great place to read a book and listen to the waves. Except for the variability of the food, I recommend this resort.

I just returned from this hotel the other day. I have nothing but good things to say about this resort and the staff. Their Covid procedures were top notch, they took their procedures very seriously and wore masks at all times, from the maids to the gardeners. There was only 1 main restaurant open and 1 speciality restaurant (The Knife) open but the food was fantastic at both. It was quiet due to very few people there but that was exactly what I was looking for. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.
