Outstanding Stay

We have travelled to many islands and a wide variety of resorts, but Sonesta Ocean Point is the only place I will return to! It far exceeded our expectations. The resort and rooms are clean and lovely! The food is the best we have ever had in the Caribbean both in taste, variety and presentation. We ate at Azul for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu changes daily and the food is 5star quality. The soups are incredible! Janelle at Azul was so outstanding and made us feel like family! I LOVE that you don’t need reservations to any of the restaurants! It is never too busy! The view from Azul is incredible! I can’t rave about this place enough! The staff are the friendliest we have ever encountered and although we have stayed at many 5 star resorts, this one lived up to the rating! We will definately be back! Also FYI: I wouldn’t pay extra for butler service as there is no need. Plenty of pool chairs and 24 hour room service and top notch service everywhere.
Staff - top notch

Janelle, was the BEST at ocean point azul . Definatly went above and beyond with her service . Down at the terrace the supervisor Sharon was FANTASTIC !! We also prefer Omar at the swim up bar ! He makes the best drinks ! My review could be pages long but the food the resort , all top notch !!

My biggest complaint with this hotel is its cost. I was very ill. I ended up with listeria at the end of my trip in Sint Maarten. Myself and another tourist got sick from deli meat in a mini market. I had to be removed from my plane in the runway place in ambulance. I was flying home for a funeral.Once stable the young EMTs suggested the Sonesta hotel since it was close to the Airport. I went there I could barely stand they told me it was close to 700 for the night because it was an all inclusive resort. I was desperate for a room and they were kind to send water and ginger ale once I told them I could not eat or do any activities. What got me was after paying that money , my sister ( who thankfully was able to change her flight in order to join me ) was charged 185 in order to be part of the room. She is vegan and doesn’t drink . There was no sound proofing between the rooms and we could hear the conversation next door until 3am! I understand I got a room last minute. I was too sick to go anywhere else but to charge so much for a room with poor sound proofing and to charge extra for my sister Is just crazy . Neither of us could eat or do the activities. My sister should not of been charged. In the am I had to go to the ER and while we tried to keep in touch with the hotel from the hospital it was hard . We returned after check out at 3 pm and they had packed us up.It was just as well. My circumstances were not great and it is a business but I think they could have done better.
Best Resort Ever

This was the best vacation I ever had in my life . The staff was so kind and accommodating, and the room was lovely . I would like to give a special shout out to Aisha (works at the Azul restaurant) she was so welcoming and accommodating towards us and treated us like family . And her food ? To die for ? I will be returning . Thank you so much to the staff at the Sonesta for making all visitors have the best vacation possible .

I’m not one to complain but for what we paid this resort is one and done! We stayed at the Cove in Atlantis and Turks and Caicos among many others and thought this place would exceed them. Here celebrating our 25th year anniversary paid $$$$ for a 3* resort. We have the sunset butler room. Nonworking coffee machine. Next day woke up to no running water and a broken toilet all day, fixed twice. The food is horrible 1-2* the most…you know the Italian is bad when you have to order a Cesar salad w/ grilled salmon. The dirty martini couldn’t even drink… The buffet food is lukewarm and pretty much cafeteria food. Don’t expect much it’s food to fill you up. I’ll try to post pics of the buffet/ food here. The beach…non existent. Beach chairs are nasty for what you pay here. Resort on the small side. One of the pool not inviting to go in. Been here 2 days resort at capacity and seen 5 people in it. I feel bad making this review but we had such a bad experience and can’t wait to leave. Wish I picked a better resort perhaps the French side. The view is great but don’t let anyone kid you that the airplane noise isn’t bad after several days it’s not enjoyable. Making the most out of it but bummed we spent so much $ and the expectations is subpar. Anyone looking to book 1-2 days here is enough…looks like there’s better resorts. We would leave if we could.
