I’d like to send a couple of shout outs to staff Sheryl at the pool bar, Nicole in the main buffet and dainty at reception - as well as great location, cleanliness and great food!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sonesta. I went with a group of 8 girls. Most of the staff were awesome (shoutout to Dawn, Maxine and Kamari @ Azul, Carlos "tequila tequila", Viola and Kemar). We did encounter a few staff members that were rude, but the good ones far outweighed the bad! The only con was that you can't make dinner reservations for groups of 8 so eating together was difficult (they won't combine tables). The hotel was very clean and the food was better than I expected at an all-inclusive. We had the best time and I'm already planning visit #2.

Unfortunately our experience did not reflect what we expected from this property. During the night we discovered a cockroach in our room, which was extremely unsettling. While we understand tropical destinations can present challenges, encountering this inside the room at a resort marketed as an upscale experience was disappointing. What was more concerning was the lack of meaningful response afterward. Although the hotel acknowledged the situation, no resolution or gesture of goodwill was offered. Guest concerns — particularly related to cleanliness and comfort — should be taken more seriously. For travelers considering this property, I would recommend confirming how issues like this are handled should they arise. At this price point, guests expect both a high standard of maintenance and responsive service when something goes wrong.

We enjoyed the resort and particularly the staff. Azul restaurant was wonderful: Remi, Maxine the smoothie queen, Jack, Sidia, Mairin, Rihannon and Chef John L. Were amazing. AND Lola from security watched over us and made sure we knew what we were supposed to be doing! So much fun with everyone.
