From the moment the taxi dropped us off at the Ocean Point desk, Kmar begin our trip with a smile and a positive attitude that set the stage for what would be our favorite vacation so far. At the desk, Justin, Daynti and Angela went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied with the accommodations that were reserved for us. We couldn’t have been happier with our Junior Suite King in room 516. The room was perfect. At the Azul, Maddy, Sophia, Sidia, Rihana, and Rumerne made every meal and enjoyable experience. The food at the Azul was the best it has ever been. We are picky eaters, and we were very happy with the choices. More importantly, our son and his wife are self proclaimed foodies and are very picky about the restaurants that they eat in. They were more than happy with the food at the Ocean Point. They never ate off the resort because the food was so good. During our previous vacations, the food was always mediocre. We loved the resort and we put up with the food. This trip the food was one of highlights. We couldn’t have been happier. Please pass on our compliments to the chef and do what you need to do to keep him! The sparkling pool was our daily afternoon visit, and as always, Cheryl made us feel warm and welcomed. She is amazing! We have already booked our next trip to Saint Maarten in January and can’t wait to come back!

Pros: Beds were comfortable, showers were excellent, plenty of pressure and hot water. Very friendly and cooperative staff, no issues there. Food was fine. Buffet features Caribbean style food, which I s not for everyone. Cons: We reserved a “Swim Out Junior Suite”. It’s not a suite, it’s a regular room (with a bathroom, like all rooms). It opens up to a little pool which we enjoyed. But it’s definitely NOT a suite. The main pools are really nice, but plan to get up early to reserve your lounge chair. Beach has beautiful turquoise water but very rough tide. It would not be safe for young kids. There’s one thing about this property that will DEFINITELY stop me from returning. It’s not the fault of the resort, but had I known about it before hand, I would have stayed someplace else. The resort is virtually adjacent to the airport. Through out the day and into the evening you hear the ROAR of airplanes. It’s beyond obnoxious. I’ll go back to St. Maarten, but I’ll stay somewhere else.

rooms need to be more modern, we got locked in the bathroom twice & some of the homestyle authentic food on the buffet were cold. for instance, the Ox tail, curry lamb & salt fish.. once that improves five stars! and i'm american.

From start to finish everyone and everything was fantastic. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I was there with 7 friends celebrating my 50th birthday and the staff did not let it go unnoticed as well!!! They were all so welcoming and made you feel like family. The resort was so clean and accommodating. A beautiful resort to say the least. I will visit again without a doubt. I would love to give a special shout out to Suddenie, she was our first bartender to greet us and treat us so wonderful!!! Sonesta is very lucky to have her along with the rest of the staff!

As a travel advisor, I send many clients to Sonesta Ocean Point Resort in St. Maarten, and experiences like this are exactly why I continue to recommend it. I recently had a group of ladies staying at the resort to celebrate a 50th birthday, and I had arranged a birthday package that included room decorations, a birthday cake, and a fruit platter. On the day it was scheduled, I received a call from the resort letting me know the cake had unfortunately not been made in time. What impressed me most was that they proactively reached out to explain the situation and immediately put a plan in place to correct it. They still decorated the room that day and delivered the cake and fruit platter the following day. Even better, they followed up with emails confirming when the room was decorated and again when the cake was delivered, which I truly appreciated as the travel advisor coordinating the trip. The communication, follow-up, and attention to detail were outstanding. The staff I spoke with were kind, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure my clients had a special celebration. A special thank you to Denisha, who truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled perfectly. My clients had an amazing time celebrating, and as someone who sends many guests to this resort, this level of care and service means everything. Sonesta Ocean Point truly values the guest experience, and that is why I will continue recommending it to my clients
