We have stayed here many times

Love this place, consistent, and in the center of everything! They have the operation down pat to run such a massive hotel! The room was clean, the restaurant was nice (a bit pricey but it’s the center of Times Square) and the elevators are very fast for such a big place. Also a sBux connected which is great!!
Tip-hungry bell staff

Really sweet Hispanic Jersey girl at front desk was amazing but as I put in the title, the bell staff are tip-hungry. The man handing out luggage tickets was miserable and rude. Even worse was the head bellman who became upset when I told him I’d give him a tip after my wife came back to the room with my wallet (I had nothing on me other than my phone - maybe he takes Apple Pay?). Just a real shame.
Big Apple

COVID procedures was full force, very reassuring. I got a room facing Times Square - was told it was recently renovated. Clean, modern, and functional as expected. There is construction on a few floors and the noise can be loud but usually ends by 5pm. No food, bar, or snacks are available in the hotel - good thing is that everything is within walking distance. Sadly the entire city is quiet. I miss the Broadway shows.
Rude front desk

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in nyc for business since my husband has been traveling for covid related work into the city. The hotel is nice, but the front desk lady was very rude. She kept trying to up sell us to a room that was $300 more but wasn’t understanding that because it’s a work trip that there is a set money limit for the stay. She kept insisting we put the extra $300 on our personal credit card. My husband tried explaining that his work is paying so we can’t pay more. She got rude and even raised her voice. I felt like I was at a car dealership, not at a hotel check in desk. Then she said that my husband can get the room with the wall view. I’m not sure what was said after that, but we did get a river view. Her energy was just not inviting. Said next year we would be paying $7,000 to stay here. My husband had explained again that it was a work trip so we wouldn’t be staying here otherwise. We picked this hotel because it was close to Central Park and many of the other hotels are currently closed. Again, nice hotel but they need to work on the front desk hospitality. We are currently still here for the entire week. I guess we will see if my feelings change, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel when there are so many with a nicer front desk staff.
Family bonding during Pandemic

Staying here for the second time was not I expected. The check in wasn’t cordial. But I met Germaine , she was very professional and accommodating . Thank you for doing above and beyond customer service. Not much to say in this experience. The valet parking staff were courteous. I felt nothing special to talk about.
