We arrived from Scotland and checked in at reception. We had been booked into a Classic 2 queen bed room. When we opened the door all I could see was this tiny room, with a stained carpet and gaffa tape across the carpet at the room door. The shower room was tiny and the whole room itself was awful. I phoned reception and complained and we we were moved to. a Signature 2 queen bed room. and were told it would cost an additional 40 dollars a day. I have to say that this room was no better than the first room. It was small and again the shower room was tiny. There was one seat at a desk to sit on. Again I phoned reception and this time The Manager met us in the foyer. I was shown a room on the 17th floor which had a small ante room which then led off to a larger 2 queen bedded room with a view of some skyscrapers. We were told that if we wanted this room it would cost 100 dollars per day in addition to what we had already paid. The manager put the blame firmly on the Travel Consultant we had used, saying he had booked us into the cheapest room!!! When I pointed out that the accommodation was based on what they had on their website it made no difference. The Edison Hotel room descriptions on their website bears absolutely no resemblance at all to what you get!!! We had over 3 hours hassle after we arrived to get a decent room. Get your act together and update your website description for your accommodation as it’s totally wrong and misleading!!!

Room and especially the bathroom (and the rest of the common areas) were in very tired/shabby condition and in desperate need or refurbishment. The hairdryer didn't work and a replacement was provided. The water was stone cold a couple of times for showers.
Location is central close to transport but extremely noisy and we slept badly the whole week.
"Breakfast included", does not mean breakfast included. It means a voucher for a very limited selection of grab and go options. Or pay for breakfast to sit and eat.
Ideal Location but an awful Hotel

We arrived after being stung by a yellow taxi from Newark airport who charged us $150. Arrived at the hotel and was stung another couple of hundred dollars for other various taxes so we didn’t have the best of starts
We then got to our room, what an absolute dump. Dark, not enough room, poorly decorated and dirty looking. Safe didn’t work and the bed was broke so we requested another which they duly arranged, but to our dismay the room was even smaller and just as dull. On the plus side the shower was better.
Staff were often rude and not accommodating to our requests especially at the ‘On the go breakfast’
The only plus for me is that this hotel is in an ideal spot right next to Times Square
It’s a very very busy hotel even In Mid November.
I’d definitely come back to New York which is an amazing place but would avoid this hotel at all cost !!!

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Edison. Location is perfect and the service was good. The grab and go breakfast was great if you're wanting to get out early and have a bite to eat on the go. The only slight disappointment was our room on the 3rd floor. I get the theme of the hotel but the room was really dated and could do with a freshen-up. Also the room and bathroom were really, really warm with no way of lowering the temperature. As we barely spent any time in the room it didn't spoil our experience. All in all would recommend.

Just back from a 5 night stay in the Hotel Edison and we had an amazing stay. Could not fault the hotel at all. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor but I can honestly say we found no faults at all. We stayed in the signature 2 Queen bed room on the 21st floor. The room was huge. We were going to New York for my sisters 40th which I mentioned when I booked and there was a bottle of prosecco and a lovely note in the room on our arrival which was a lovely touch. It started our holiday on the perfect note. The room was spotless and cleaned every day. The grab and go breakfast was very handy and it was very nice. Some mornings, we paid the $5 and sat in the restaurant and had the French toast, which was so nice and set us up for the day. Check-in and check out were quick and effortless. We organised airport transfers back to jfk at the hotel, which cost $55 for 2 of us and that was very efficient. The location of the hotel is the best you would get in New York, literally 2 minutes walk to Times Square. When I go back to New York, I will definitely be staying at the Hotel Edison. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel. I know some of the reviews gave out about the faculty fees but once you know about them and have included them in your budget then you won't have any surprises when settling the bill. Really looking forward to returning to the Hotel Edison.
