Go elsewhere
Kelly N (Portsmouth, England, United Kingdom) on Apr 12, 2026
Stayed here back in November 2025, the stay itself was ok, room not huge, but had all you needed. On check in they explained they take a $300 deposit which is refundable after 21 days. The refund was never received, when I contacted them they said it was nothing to do with them and to contact my bank, which I did and it was down to the hotel to refund my refund. My daughter has since stayed at this hotel and the same thing has happened, they’ve taken $300 “refundable” deposit and it has not been returned, the hotel are now not answering emails, and we have contacted our bank who have now opened an investigation. Absolutely disgusting service, it’s stealing and customer service is non existent! My advice to anyone thinking of staying here is to go elsewhere, as this hotel is a con!
Location was good but the hotel itself had problems

The one good thing about this hotel is the location. It's in times square so if you're visiting NYC it's a perfect spot to be involved in times square. Additionally, you're super close to the subway stations (walking distance) which is helpful if you plan to go to different sites. It's also close to many restaurants. One issue we had was with the rooms. They were very small, but the main issue was the bathroom. It was so tiny and it was difficult to move around in it. Additionally, the shower had a half door situation so half of it was left open which made water easy to get out. The sink was also very small so it was hard to brush or even put things on the shelf. This was an issue since we had four people in the room (might not be a problem for solo/couple travelers). Another issue was with the grab and go breakfast. The hotel was not cheap by any means so we were expecting decent quality food. Instead, our options were a measly yogurt parfait that was literally half granola and three blueberries (yes three blueberries) with a small packet of honey on the side, pancakes (they were so so), and two options of bland egg sandwiches. They served "seasonal fruit" which was literally bruised bananas and oranges. They also offered croissants which were cold most days. Definitely not worth the breakfast but it was necessary when we had early plans and could not eat out. Furthermore, the option to pay $6.50 for the sit-down breakfast was also a joke. You literally get three options and they're mediocre. If you have dietary restrictions, it's better to not pay for meal tickets and just save your time by just finding food outside the hotel. Another issue was how rude some of the breakfast staff were. I asked a lady for some extra honey one morning and instead of politely saying that they were out of honey, I was rudely told "No honey!". I understand that it can be very rushed in the mornings but you are a hotel staff, it's your job to be polite. The hotel offers a one hour happy hour in which they serve cheese and drinks. However, they are so cheap that within the first 15 minutes, when the cheese platter runs out, they sneak off and refuse to refill it even when asked. How cheap does a hotel have to be, especially after acting like they're very fancy? The hotel was definitely run down and not as new as some of the others ones in the area. If you're someone who just wants to go around NYC, then this hotel can be looked in to because we did spend a lot of time out in the city. But, we also enjoy having a nice hotel to come back after a long day and that just wasn't what we found here. I wouldn't really recommend this place to other people as I will not be returning to Hotel Edison in any future trips to NYC.
Home away from Home

The Hotel Edison is my new home away from home. I've gotten to know the staff, and the rooms are spacious. The location is perfect for getting wherever you need to go in the city!
Great base for 5 days in NYC and first timers!

This hotel is extremely well situated to explore the city and see a show on Broadway. The staff were helpful and attentive. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant next door and they give out vouchers and offers that give you access to cheaper breakfasts, bagels and coffees at various eateries. The bed was comfy and the room was a decent size for the three of us. It was unfortunately extremely noisy at night due to some building work going on but we coped. It is after all the city that never sleeps! We would stay here again definitely and I would recommend to others. Enjoy your stay.
