Hidden Gem Near Times Square

CarolinaBlonde (Bentonville, Virginia) on Mar 28, 2026

This is a great hotel right off Times Square. It is conveniently located near theaters, restaurants, and a short walk to museums and Central Park. The hotel has some amazing amenities. The city walking tours are outstanding. They are free and only 1.5 hours. It is a wonderful way to explore different neighborhoods and learn the history. Breakfast vouchers are included for hotel restaurants or Carve down the street. They also have wine hours with music 3 nights a week. There are 2 good restaurants and the Rum Bar with jazz music. The rates are reasonable, and the rooms nice and quiet . I highly recommend Hotel Edison!

A Magical Stay at the Iconic Hotel Edison - Thank you Fehat and Justina

Safari812956 on Mar 28, 2026

We never imagined staying anywhere near Times Square could feel like anything other than pure chaos. But from the moment we arrived at the 100-year-old Hotel Edison, that assumption disappeared. The very first face we saw was Fehat, the bellman, whose affability and old-world graciousness instantly set the tone. In the middle of the nonstop crowds, he somehow made us feel like we were the only guests in the lobby, welcomed, seen, and genuinely cared for. His warmth alone could restore anyone’s faith in hospitality. At the front desk, Justina greeted us with the same level of patience and kindness. Surrounded by the exhilarating energy of this living, historic hotel, we were a little overwhelmed in the best way and she guided us through check-in with a calm, friendly presence. When she handed us the key card, it truly felt like receiving Willy Wonka’s golden ticket, a doorway into an experience people dream about when they picture staying in New York City. In a world that can feel cynical, both Fehat and Justina invited us into something joyful and authentic. A memory that will never fade. They made us feel like we had arrived not just at a hotel, but at a piece of New York history brought to life by people who genuinely love what they do. Thank you, Hotel Edison, for supporting Fehat, Justina and all the other incredible staff, and for reminding us what great service feels like. Our faith in the hospitality industry has officially been restored. Cheers!

A decent hotel experience, except the refund policy

serg0245 (Northampton, United Kingdom) on Mar 27, 2026

I did a lot of research before choosing Hotel Edison, so I knew the location was right in the heart of Times Sq and I was aware the hotel was not modern. Firstly the location is excellent if you want to step out of your hotel and be walking right in Time Sq. TKTS ticket booth right outside and everything on your doorstep., including lots of close by theatre shows. Despite this we found the hotel quiet inside. We were a family of 4 and booked 2 interconnecting rooms. No view, but also no outside noise. The rooms were pretty good. I'd describe them as "traditional", the fixtures and fittings were old but functional. The rooms were the hotels, "signature" rooms so had been refurbished which from what I could tell was mainly the bathrooms. Good size walk in shower which took up most of the space. We had a few issues, the water went off completely one day, (not sure if this was out of the hotels control), the shower did not get hot and the toilet blocked up. To be fair to the hotel these issues were resolved very quickly on the same day that we reported them. There was no coffee machine or fridge in the room but again this was resolved quickly when I requested them from reception. The rooms were clean, the bedding and towels were crisp and clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. The wine hour was a great bonus, if you were around the area of the hotel taking a break from your itinerary between 5-6pm, complimentary wine, cheese and biscuits are served in the lobby which was great. My kids used the gym which they said was pretty good and we found all the staff friendly and helpful. We had the "grab and go" breakfast that was included in our booking. There was a choice of breakfast bun, pastry, yoghurt, fruit, coffee and juice. You could sit in the lower section of the restaurant to eat this and we found this was perfectly fine. Now for the negative. I was aware there is a $300 security deposit and a $45.90 daily facility fee. The facility fee is added up with any other incidentals that you might incur and taken off the security deposit at the end of your stay. I ended up paying this on a Chase Bank debit card for ease. We incurred no other incidentals so on check out I was told by reception that I was due $70.50 in refund but this could take a week. We checked out on 6th March and it is now 27th March and it has still not been refunded. I emailed the hotel and they sent a confusing reply saying it can take 30 days to refund and if I haven't received it by then to contact my bank??? Since when does it take 30 days to process a refund payment? They took my $300 payment in minutes.... This is the only part of our stay that has left a bit of a blotch on the otherwise pretty good experience. I will give them the full 30 days and then look to take things further. If you do book this hotel, just be aware of this. Its a shame because the hotel itself was absolutely fine for what we needed and I did quite like the older art deco / retro decor and feel.

mwarren52 (Brandon, Florida) on Mar 26, 2026

The hotel was absolutely perfect. The restaurant had servers that Performed in the evening, and that was absolutely perfect for our experience. Rommel Gopez was a pleasure to deal with as was doorman Geo. Both were very helpful. Our checkout person Justina was also extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is a perfect location for everything.

My home away from home. Friendly staff, great rooms, excellent restaurants right in the building. I've been staying here for many years and can't wait for my next trip to NYC to stay again!
