Great location, clean rooms

My daughter and I stayed here for a long weekend to see NYC. The hotel is in a great location and you can easily walk to many things. The rooms were reasonably nice, clean, and surprisingly roomy. I docked a couple of starts for a few reasons: Our air conditioner wasn't working when we first checked in and the room was too warm. Maintenance did come and eventually got it working. My strongest suggestion is to NOT pay for the grab and go breakfast - it was terrible! The restaurants were constantly packed and there is no real room service. We tried to do an order one evening and calls went unanswered. Finally, we went downstairs to one of the restaurants and ordered off the menu and took it back to the room.

Just back from this hotel. I read some pretty bad reviews.. was actually dreading seeing the room, however for us, it was a perfect location, fantastic room, nice hot shower and it was sooo cold last week, we got back to our lovely and extremely warm room every day after a very busy cold day Spotlessly clean

Stayed here for appointments and it is close to everything yet far away enough from Times Square that you don’t get the noise. I loved the old Art Deco feel and painting in the lobby reminded me of the Empire State Building. The restaurants and lounges are also nice here and seem to be popular.

Disappointed at Hotel Edison

This was my second stay at the hotel Edison and this time I was very disappointed. On checking in I was shocked at the amount of resort tax I was asked to pay for the 2 roomed I had booked As it was per room and I had understood it to be per booking. So over £300 before we started. When I queried this with the receptionist he was very abrupt and stated it was mandatory and could not continue with check in unless paid. No information was provided about any services the payment covered, The rooms were tired, cold and both looked out onto windows of other buildings. My sons room had 3 faults in the first 24 hours, aircon/ heater didn’t work, sent someone to fix it but still didn’t work well, bathroom light flashed on and off like a strobe light and the toilet wouldn’t flush and leaked over bathroom floor They again sent someone to fix it but no one to mop the floor that had just had toilet water all over it. Grab and go breakfast was ok but not as good as last year. We were told that for £5 dollars each we could breakfast in the restaurant but we’re not told it would be a very limited menu……don’t bother. Apparently there was a wine night but again no info on arrival so knew nothing about it. Reception staff were disinterested and apathetic A shout out for the staff who ran the ticket/ excursion/ airport transfer desk, they were lovely and efficient. Location is good Overall don’t expect much, it’s clean, well located but that’s it
